Fine, you obvioulsy don't rate the bloke. There were people on here praying that Mark Hughes would not be our manager, he isn't doing too badly is he? Perhaps the fans are not best judges of who is a good bet and who is not? Pardew has not set the world alight but there are plenty of good reasons why not. If we are still in the same situation come Christmas you might have an argument..but in footballing terms the bloke has only been here for five minutes, give him a chance! It is not as if he has walked into a stable club is it?
-
Really? So all of this "newness" is supposed to gel in a few weeks is it? I don't notice any of that on here, just the same old reactionary nonsense...lose a game in the last minute against on inform team -sack the manager. SFC has had fear written all over it for a number of seasons now, it is part of the fabric of the club. It isn't going to disappear overnight because we have some new faces here.
-
Why? Everyone seems to think that Redknapp is the dogs danglies when it comes to management but he took us down (and he doesn't appear to be finished). You seem to have forgotton the little matter of us starting on MINUS 10 points and having a demoralised club from top to bottom.
-
Personally I would give him a solid 2 years no matter what happens this season as I want to see some stability at the club and I think he is a reasonable manager. I would see staying up this year as a big plus - the reason being that the "club" has no confidence and it would take anyone a long time to change that mentality.
-
If he can't we will not know that after 10 games.

Post of the year. So good to read something like this instead of the constant drivel from the negative brigade. We are very fortunate to have avoided Pinnacle and going out of business and as others have said, the only problem we have now is the losing mentality. I do believe we will turn the corner re results but it might come quick enough for some, who will continue to call for yet another manager when we lose a football match. Pearson was not a footballing messiah nor is Pardew a fool. Some fans need to get some perspective and balance. As we have seen with Roy Keane, spending money does not equate to success and building a club back up is no easy matter. Some are able to do it quicker than other, some not at all. If McMenemy had been our manager now he would have been out of the door the season ater relegation if not before. To judge Pardew harshly after only 10 matches and no preseason prep to talk of is pointless. We will have a better idea of what he is about by Christmas but it will probably take a lot longer to turn this club around and I hope he is allowed the time to do that.

U.S. Military may lift ban on women in submarines

And men don't have health issues too? I work in a police station full of women who I suspect have sex and could get pregnant, should they not be allowed to do the job either? No you are right, they should be at home ironing our shirts and hoovering the carpets. -
Indeed. Still, Pearson was elevated to hero status by winning 3 games in 13 so if Pardew wins his next 2 games he should get the same plaudits shouldn't he?
-
I can't believe some of our fans. It is still only September and yet already Pardew's future is supposed to be in doubt. Yes it would have been nice to hit the ground running, but Pardew has been playing catch up for weeks thanks to the Pinnacle debacle. GIve the bloke some time. A question for he negative brigade. How would you like it if thousands of people looked over your shoulder and picked you apart when you were only a couple of months into a new job? Pardew, as his predessors, has a tough job. Making it tougher is not going to help SFC. If things carry on like this for any length of time I expect changes will be made. Talking about it already is just non-sense.

We have the worst fans in the league...look up the word support. And get rid of Alpine.
-
Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?
sadoldgit replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Given that you think that times were so bad under Burley Alpine why don't you jusrt give it a rest eh? You are just making an idiot of yourself. -
So tell me Alpine, what do you expect football managers (not the most erudite of men by and large) to come out with when they have a microphone shoved under their nose the minute the final whistle goes and they have just lost the game? A bit of Shakespeare perhaps? You still seem oblivious to the fact that stat-wise he won every other game, but, hey, let's just concentrate of his after game interviews shall we?
-
Well apparently that is what Ferguson and Wenger do and they haven't done too badly have they? As for your calling for Pardew to be sacked, it is only a matter of time.
-
A team of footballers would be a start!!!
-
More importantly, do you???
-
Hmmm, whose opinion would I trust? Alpine's or Pardew's? Tricky one.
-
Where was that? Did he go on holiday to Austria then?
-
You have seen them play then have you Alpine? And yet another assine dig at a past manager who at least won matches. Still, with your genious for working out our problems without even watching the matches I guess we should have had you in charge instead of Burley - we would have walked the Championship!
-
Still harping on about a past manager eh Apline? At least we had a measure of success under him and won football matches - something that Pearson, JP, Wotte and Pardew have all struggled to do. Still, why let that spoil a perfectly good agenda eh? To recap, when Burley left we were closer to the play offs than relegation and comfortably a mid table side. We are now struggling in the 3rd divison and, at this rate, will be fighting relegation to what is really the 4th Divison. And all you can do is harp on about Lowe and Burley. You must be a wow at Christmas every year. If things were so much better now I might think that you had a point but you don't seem to get the point all the way over there in Austria, but things are much worse now. You might prefer to support a team struggling to win games in the 3rd Divison than one that was within a whisker of gaining promotion...but I know which period I prefer. I think Tim Burton should make a film about you Alpine. You truly are a bizarre piece of work.
-
Indeed, but we are still hardly setting the world alight are we? But I can't believe that Redknapp, Burley, JP and Wotte didn't give the players a kick in the arse. Just because we don't read about it on the OS doesn't mean it didn't happen.
-
You really are obsessed with him aren't you? Where do I say anything about Lowe? My comment was that we do not know what was said or what happened between players and management in previous training sessions do we? Where does Lowe come into it unless he was taking training????
-
But we don't know what training was like or what was said to players do we?
-
What worries me most is that Pardew hadn't seen him play before we signed him. If that had happened under the previous regime the forum would be in meltdown mode by now.
-
So if we improve will we see the likes of Alpine saying that it is down to Wally (Snodin) and not AP (Burley)? Foot ball is a team game and is about everybody working and pulling together. If Wally makes a difference good luck to him, but he is here because of Pardew and is one of Pardew's team.
-
Good for you. If someone can get 2% or 3% out of the players that could make the difference between staying up and going down. It is not as if we were winning matches for fun was it. Maybe he isn't the biggest name in sports psychology. But after winning the World Cup he was certainly one of the biggest names. Can anyone here (without Google) come up with any other contempory names??? If Alpine believed in that stuff you would think he would have creamed his jeans at the appointment of someone (proven) like Woodward. To say he only slagged him off becaise of his celebrity is ridiculous. I guess he slagged off the Keegan signing too then??? Didn't we become a media circus then too?
