At the end of the day what difference does the age make, I don't see any problem in a football manager wanting fans to use their energy supporting the team and getting behind the club. This only makes his job harder. If it makes his job harder it makes it harder for us to stay up.

I think you are over reacting a bit aren't you. If you read Jonah's futher comments they make perfect sense. Don't you think it is all a bit odd that the only people that the mob rally behind are children and jumped up shop stewards? Is that really the best we can do? Oh andWotte can be as disgreeable as he likes and can have the dodgiest hair in the world as long as he drags us out of this mess.

Actually Mark, at 16 he should probably be looking to play right back for us!
-
Look on the bright side, he probably doesn't write it at all it is just churned out by our brilliant PR machine!
-
Yeah, it is probably more like a shoe box wedged under a chair somewhere
-
Not at all, but do you ever really give up hoping that the next time maybe....?
-
Why wouldn't you want a picture of a train on the wall of a football club board room? Perhaps we could send Doncaster a picture of Take That by our trophy cabinet as a parting gift from the CCC?

Sounds like grounds for divorce to me Rich!!! I did get dragged to a Michael Bolton concert by my partner but am trying to show her the error of my ways by taking her to see The Killers on Monday. Anyway, back to the thread. Surely to raise the cash to put the concert on we would have to sell a couple of players???

If you woke up every single day of your life, looked out of the window and it was raining, that is what the negativity here is like. It pervades everything, every thread. Given our circumstances you might expect a certain amount of gallows humour but no, everyday we get the same old same old. Of course you are going to get negativity on football forums, goodness knows we even had it when we were pushing for the plays offs, but there are people on here who thrive on it and rub our noses in it every day. If you don't want your heart broken or your hopes crushed, best never date girls or support football teams eh?

Take That out!!!!

Oh dear, the old "he doesn't go to games therefore he can't have an opinion" thing again. And I have lost my marbles. And as for Alpine, I was not talking about boring posts I was talking about negativity.
-
Could do with that now to help pay the bills!!!
-
I don't know if Big John McGrath was ever captian, but we could certainly use someone like him now!

Negativity can thrive for so long before the even the people spouting it get bored (apart from Alpine who seems to thrive on it!). Even the stuff spouted by the plants gets boring after a time as it becomes more and more transparent.

Surely Take That are way too old to play at St Marys nowdays???

Perhaps they should just paraphrase War and Peace each week? Really what do you expect from a football club website?

Visions usually take more than a few months to come to fruition don't they? And does any one truly know what Lowe's vision is? From what I gather his current plan is to stave off administration (which despite the people on here telling us it is imminent it has yet to happen) by bringing down the cost base, which is happening is it not? It is to bring on the youth to help save money on transfer fees and wages, that is happening. It is to get back to the Premiership in three seasons - looks very unlikely right now but we can't say that failed until three seasons have passed. I don't recall anyone at the club saying that we were going to set the world alight this season. If we stay out of administration and stay up I don't see that as a failure. If the plan is Premiership football in three seasons and we don't make that I would see that as failure.

If you have never met the man you can hardly make a valid judgement. You might not like what he does or how he presents himself but to make a decision based on those things is highly subjective. I don't want him to stay. Out of Wilde Crouch and Lowe I think he is the best thing for the club but there is always someone out there better. Do I like him? I'd be interested to have a pint or two with him to see what makes him tick but don't think he would be on my Christmas card list based on what I THINK I know of him.
-
Do we know who much the banks wanted us to save? If JP and Woote combined cost us less than Pearson and kept us afloat at that point didn't the decision make sense business-wise? I have no idea how much sh*t we were in, but given we were desparate to get shot of the high earners I would say quite a lot...so saving money on the coaching side must have been a big factor too.

Harsh....but fair!!!

Go back and check the thread about us going into administration last week and many believed it to be true. We seem to be discussing these incidents as if they happened. We were going to see our best young players in January and that was believed...I could go on..
-
In retrospect I think that Wotte might have been a better bet for 1st team coach and JP below him...but the damage is done. At Christmas I thought we might be able to scrap our way out of it, but the other teams, apart frpm Charlton, seem more able than us to get the points needed. I think that Wotte will do slightly better than JP but I can't see us winning enough matches sadly.

What amazes me is that how something that is printed on an inernet chat forum instatly becomes fact. Perhaps we should debate these things as and when it is proven that the attack happened or that Lallana did actually burst into tears?

Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Nominations
sadoldgit replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
In some ways it is like who is your favourite Bond. A lot of people would go with the won who did the best when they were younger. Bates managed when I started suporting Saints but I saw more football under Lawrie Mac and he did build some of the best squads we ever had. Both enjoyed long career with us and both were given time, something that doesn't happen nowdays. STrachan did well briefyly but looked like he had lost the plot after Christmas. Ok, he took us to a Final (by virtue of some kind draws) but bottled the team selection for the Final big time agter The Arse had ripped us aprt in the league just before. Burely in his one full season wasn't able to find the level of conistency to top the league, but did give us some great winds, not least putting 6 past Wolves away. Chris Nicholl was not the right choice to take over from LM and failed to build on his legacy. Only three manager maged to average a win every other game, Burley, McMenemy and Hoddle. Ted Bates was just under with 1.42 points per game but of course managed an awful lot more than anyone else. We have had two great managers, Lawrie Mac and Ted Bates and you can argue who was the better until the cows come home. The rest came and went and some did okay in patches but I don't think that anyone else came close to those two. The most enjoyment I have had being Saints fan came under those two. I enjoyed Strachan for about half a season (his post match interviews were always worth watching even if the result didn't go our way), Burley's play off season and Dave Jones's Great Escape. It was good to see Bally give Le Tiss his total support but the results were not fantastic in that period, it was more about enjoying Le Tiss.
