Wotte is the new version of Pearson...
sadoldgit replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Apart from being pleased that Wotte seems to have a bit more going for him than some other managers we have had, I am really chuffed for Euell and Davis. Both have come in for heavy stick but both have turned things round and who would be without them now? Just shows how wrong it is to write people off so soon eh? It has been a bumpy rid but at least we finally have something to cheer about this season. -
Behind him??? So all the commments about his hair, being despised by the players, being "Dutch" etc. were actually expressions of support? Oh, I see.

You know where I am coming from FC. Just because it was a Lowe decision it had to be ripped to shreds by some. Still a lot to do but surely we must all feel now that we have turned a corner? Time to put petty differences aside and get behind Wotte. -
About "some" Saints fans. You can hardly blame him for wanting the supporters to actually get behind him and the club can you?

No he wasn't starting cold, but he was starting form a lower base. I also think you would accept that Pearson inherited a better squad than Wotte. Irrespective of what happened before, it is what happens now and until the end of the season that matters. -
I am not moaning. I am wondering why some of our regular posters don't seem so happy that we have won three out of three.
-
So Duncan, what did Leon tell you to tell us? That Wotte was despised in the dressing room? Tell me, what do you (and your mate Leon) think of the job he has done so far? I get the feeling you are disappointed he is doing so well.
-
Jeez, some people still can't enjoy the fact that we have won three in three. Tell me again, how long did it take Pearson to win 3 matches and how long have you been telling us that was a huge loss? We do have some strange fans. You really do get the feeling some of them would have been happier if we had lost the last three games. Go figure.....

Given that Wotte has managed in 3 games what Pearson took 13 to do, I think my spelling is not such a great deal do you Wes? I just feel for Um Pahars, his nephew and Alpine tonight, oh, and the club historian. They had all written off Wotte before he had warmed the head coaches chair. They must be gutted. Still a long way to go but despite his apparent dodgy hair, being Dutch and being despised by the players, he hasn't done too badly has he??? -
Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?

LOL, nice one. -

At the end of the day, whatever Lowe does is "wrong", that is the law. Even when he gets things right someone else gets the credit. We are told he is not a "football man" yet he has been running this club longer than some posters here have been supporting the club. Like every other CEO/Chairman/Whatever he is, he makes decisions and like every other person he gets some wrong. Given the original financial situation I see the logic of off loading the high earners to help reduce the cost base. That means either playing the youth or brining in cheaper options. I also see the logic of brining in a coaching set up who are doing this already. In retrospect it would have been better to have uased Wotte and the first team coach and JP as his side kick. Sadly, amongst Lowe's others faults, he doesn't have a crystal ball. I am sure the Charlton fans wish their Board had a crystal ball too. Lowe's biggest job this season was to keep us out of administration and so far so good on that front. Yep, things are cr*p, but they could be a lot worse. If we manage to stay up and solvent he will have done okay this year. Even if he drops dead today, the new guy will have to work with the same constraints. -
Is this the same Jason Euell who many on here thought was a donkey and wanted him OUT of the club not so long ago??? But hey, let's not stop that using him as yet another stick to beat the management with. I take it you didn't read that article in The Independent about finances then Steve, or do you leave the more serious newspapers for your nephew to read???
-
I am more postitive about saying up now than I was 2 games ago. Wotte seems to know what he is doing and those two wins were massive for us.
-
You do have to laugh though don't you? Wotte was written off by many because - he is Dutch - his has funny hair - he was appointed by Lowe - take your pick. Early days yet but it took Pearson 13 matches to win three games so if Wotte manages better than that I expect to see him given hero status on here!!! Still a long way to go, but fair play to the bloke, so far so good. And to think, we were told how much he was despised at the club by the players!!!!!

Foreign coaches are up against the same problems in the Premiership as they would be in the CCC. There is no reason why a foreign coach can't be successful in the CCC. Let us hope we have found one who can be! People don't work in isolation. At every club there are a team of people who are involved in bringing in new players etc.
-
Well it is the old cliche of every match is a Cup Final now. I just hope they go for it and good luck to them. Tough match.
-
Yes it would have been. By now it would have been a reasonable time to judge him at our club. Whether he could have done better with the resources available to JP and Wotte though we shall never know.
-
Maybe, maybe not, we shall see in time. But I don't really see what his nationality has to do with it. Plenty of foreign coaches seem to be doing okay in the Premiership don't they?
-
Awesome!!!
-
My point about LM is that he succeeded here but not elsewhere. Perhaps Leicester and he are made for each other? maybe he would have done well here but on what he acheived in 13 matches I don't see why he is still seen as some lost genious.
-
He has gone, move on. Do you still fret after your first playground love? McMenemy had that presence but is hated at Sunderland. Good luck to Pearson at Leicester but right now we need to get behind Wotte.
-
Perhaps everyone on here who thinks it is a walk in the park running a club like SFC (I will never forget Um Pahars saying that his nephew could do it) should be forced to read this article every day for the next two weeks.

Mike Richards hits back at former Saints board colleague Keith Wiseman ...

LOL, touche. But I do wish these guys would shut up and save their mud slinging for when the season is over.
