and this is the problem with him, he has the ability but he is to slow for a fast run at defender type player, he can do it, but then his brain is just to slow to think of what he is doing while also looking for team mates, I don't think he will get much better than he already is as I don't see him ever learning any sort of composure / vision and ability to pass the ball or finish the chances he gets ( and this shows as even JWP scored more goals and more assist than him with less time on the field than Redmond). As every one says how bad JWP is and should be playing in the championship, god knows how bad Redmond is if he cant out perform JWP over a season in which he gets 2x as many mins . Already after Redmond 2 games and JWP 60 mins ( 1 game ) JWP has already created more scoring chances and at least had a shot at goal, against what can be considered a far far far better team than Burnley, and Redmond played this game too but did nothing all game and was the worst player on the pitch...….

I want to like him, but he is to inconsistent for me, don't care if he can play like Henry for half a second, what he does for the other 89 min 59 and a half secs is normally just bad. Put in a decent performance against Burnley, and was are worst attacking player against Everton the game after and made more mistakes than any other player on the field. I think Redmond should have gone out on loan and we kept Sims lol

You are sticking with Redmond who made a total of 0 chances last night, but want to drop JWP who has made more chances in 1 game than Redmond has in 2 with 3 of them 100 % goals if players learnt to head the ball properly. Rather JWP on the pitch than any other player that started yesterday and was by far are best mid.

you know he has created the only chance's for us so far right? and that are only problems are defensively in which as a right sided mid on a flat 442 would not be his job?

Bringing on them wont add any sort of control to the game, need HOJ or JWP for that, some one to do the simple things and keep the midfield organised. ATM we just all over the place, Redmond does need to come off though.

I like that, although would swap Redmond for JWP and put Lemina where u have JWP, or Gabbie with Redmond and leave JWP in CM, I really dislike Redmond, to wasteful

He is a forward and plays out wide for his club, not to mention country as he shares a front 3 role, not watched any juve games i see or Argentina games?, more to football than just the EPL you know, go watch some juve games and see the positions he takes up, he crossing is quite impressive, if JWP had all PD abilitys he wouldn't be playing here would he, but your not finding a replacement on JWP level for less than 20 million considering how much we have payed for other mids in the team and he is better than all of them. yes he has no set role, but out wide last season he was the 2nd most creative player for us and yet played less mins than Redmond and Tadic and only just slightly more than boufal……….

25 years playing football, spent 11 at united as one of the best right sided mids in the world, he played his first full season at madrid playing wide right, drop into midfield cause Real madrid had far more dangerous players who could play out wide and didn't want to remove beckham cause of his passing and free kicks and corners, his vision so made him his own special position just to keep him on the pitch. and who you replacing him with for 10 - 15 million then? he is one of are best mids, is more consistent than all of them, and plays for the club not his bank account and is not likely to cause trouble either in the dressing room, he is a leader on the pitch, he does help to control games and he offers some thing different than just trying to beat his man and play threw balls to one of the slowest forwards lines in the league, but he has the best cross in the team and is the most accurate crosser in the team, and his set pieces are by far much much better than any 1 else we have in the team. If managers cant get the other players in the team to help find JWP time and space, and make runs when he has the ball, then i would put that down to bad management and tactics rather than JWP, cause every time he gets the ball his head is up, but none move forward only backwards, you get no runner from midfield, no wingers cutting in behind the defenders, and when his puts a perfect cross in, no one makes the effort to get on the end of them or just completely screw it up and miss the target or no one else is even in the box they are all out side wanting the ball out side the box so they can try dribble past a box full of defenders...… Just rewatch the games last season to see how many goals Tadic could have had off JWP last season, i counted 3 chances Tadic wasted watching highlights form last season, at least 4 - 5 from Long, Austin missed two sitters form like 4 yards out, Gabbie too, JWP makes the chances, ppl just don't finish them, and the chances he creates are normal certain goals if the person on the end of it gets it on target.

you don't need to be fast to play out wide, plenty of top wide players have been slow, that is just an excuse, United went 10 + years odd David Beckham and g Neville who was both slow wide men yet cause of the understanding they had, they won every thing possible and was probs the best right side pairing at the time, they had the pace and brilliance of giggs on the left and the passing and crossing ability of David Beckham on the right, its up to the manage to drill the team to get the best out of each other, EG get the best out of the players he has available. i think 10 mill is an insult.

You know he is the only person who assisted a free kick for us last season and he only took around 10 of them during the full season, you know how many assists and goals Tadic got from the penalty spot corners and free kicks? all of them. 0 and he took around 90 % of them including all but 1 in the last few games for us last season. Sorry Tadic scored 1 penalty last season, which JWP would have scored had he been on the pitch.

You know he is one of are highest valued players right? 23 years old 160 odd apps in one of the toughest leagues in the world, has reasonable stats too and has improved his goal and assist tally every year despite the team getting weaker and weaker and worse and worse managers along the way? I know ppl like to bash him, but this is just wrong

This is why he don't get played. he is happy being a swaud player for the club he loves so don't kick up a fuss being on the bench, so imported players are taking a spot that really should just be made JWP so he can have a nice decent run in it instead of starting once every 3 games with the odd 15 - 20 min at the end of games.

his free kicks and corners got us 1 goal and 3 assists last year ( more than any other player on the team BTW ), not to mention 8 other big chances to be put in the back of the net, same amount as Tadic who managed over twice as many mins. if he had got the same amount of mins as Tadic I reckon he would have a lot more assist to his name last season, so real question you should be asking, is why are managers not making the most of JWP abilities and using players who have proven time and time again to be to wasteful and not as intelligent and read the game as well as JWP does?

rather JWP than HOJ or Lemina, and playing the way we do, he will play well in the right CM position and will see him get a nice few assists drifting wide getting in crosses. a mid of JWP Romeu and Armstrong would be better than HOJ Lemina and Armstrong, if we are going to be sticking to this 532 formation, cause JWP just offers more than HOJ or Lemina even if Lamina is a lot better physically, he is just to slow to read the game.

This, we have a decent team and should not get relegated, I don't like the formation though I have to say I rather we played 4231, the formation is a hinderance atm as we don't have the players who can play it effectively, hope I am proved wrong though.

TBF, its the lack of covering from the midfield more than the defenders, yes they are poor, but the midfield is none existent. I don't like this formation, rather we went back to 433 / 451 / 4231.
