  1. He probably could. He started out as a forward, once upon a time.
  2. Last summer Hooiveld was hoping to transfer from Swedish AIK to FC Groningen. He wasn't deemed good enough for them. But maybe we could use him as a striker instead?
  3. Just for fun, here's Monkou interviewing Koeman, two months back. It's in Dutch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kycKiWL5cA4
  4. Ken Monkou started a pancake restaurant in the Netherlands after his football career ended in 2000 (after a year at Huddersfield Towns AFC), but sadly that went bankrupt.
  5. That's quite a lot to ignore! Also, between matchday 6 and matchday 12 we gathered 14 out of the available 18 points, which is fantastic. Then november and december hit us hard (like this year).
  6. I think he's a great player. And to be fair: the doping ban expired after the substance was found to not be in the banned substance list and the case was dismissed by UEFA. You can't hold that against him.
  7. Old thread, but I wanted to ask training and coaching. How do our trainers and coaches work with the players? I know some clubs have specific striker coaches (like Dennis Bergkamp at Ajax) like they (and we) have goalkeeping coaches. Is that Eric Black for us? Do we have a trainer specifically working with our forwards on finishing, positioning etc? Or do the whole staff train the whole team as a whole? Just curious, because I've never attended a training session and I don't hear much about it either.
  8. Smart business. Sell him to both clubs; we may get around £20m that way.
  9. Obviously, also to you, we will have lost 5 league games in a row if we lose. It's one thing to be positive - I'm trying to be as well - but it's another to deliberately 'misunderstand' what was meant by the poster you're responding to when they said '5 consecutive losses'. Everyone knows we've won other games in between, but it's not relevant for the league.
  10. Adebayor on a free? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jan/19/emmanuel-adebayor-togo-africa-cup-nations-2017-england-premier-league

  12. And it gave us 6th place in the league and European football. I personally love it when a young one gets a chance, but we also want to win games and we like to complain a lot if our manager doesn't field the strongest possible team. We didn't have a lot of games last season where a win was already mostly secured ahead of the final whistle, and a 'weaker' player could safely get some time.
  13. Been away a few weeks? Or joking? Positives: Didn't lose any players yet this window. Long scored a goal.
  14. It wasn't the prettiest goal by the sound of it, but I hope it does something for Long. Open the floodgates!
  15. Yes! Finally!!
  16. Sky: HT: That's the half, and in truth not a very entertaining 45 minutes. Saints have been on top, with one chance falling to Rodriguez, but Norwich have shown they can counter at pace. Some boos at half-time... much better expected in the second half.
  17. Reading on Sky, seems to have the most updates: 41: Free-kick to Norwich now in a dangerous position as Reed takes out Murphy. Just outside the area on the right, a crossing chance. 42: Pritchard actually shifts it to the left for Brady to shoot, but it flies over Lewis' bar!
  18. Any radio commentary? The sound on the Saints website doesn't give me anything.
  19. Memphis Depay to Lyon for £14.75m. Decent player, big flop for United.
  20. It's good to have someone like you around VFTT. Someone who's always objective, always right, always graceful. Thank you.
  21. Captain Yoshi. Good for him.
  22. I don't know if you're referring to me, but I'm definitely not bashing Austin. I'd much rather her were available. And it IS very important to have someone who'll score a penalty as well. I just meant that the idea that he's by far our best finisher seems off, because of the numbers: 4 field goals out of 13 vs. Rodriguez' 3 out of 13. I'm thinking both could do better.
  23. As much as I agree that we really miss him at the moment, Charlie Austin scored 6 goals in 5 games out of 14 games he played in the League and 2 of those goals were penalties. So that’s 4 field goals in 14 matches. To say he's by far the best finisher seems to be overstating it a bit, based on those figures. Both Rodriguez and Redmond have scored 3 field goals in the PL this season.
  24. Not sure if this'll actually stream, but a stream is announced here: http://www.feed4u.net/watch/1870762/1/Southampton-vs-Norwich-City.html
  25. Even though I think/hope that players (or agents) look at the bigger picture, it can't help us in this window that we've just lost 4 games in a row. Bad timing!
