  1. I've seen this view on Twitter that their team was assembled for pennies and how the teams on paper yesterday were a mis-match. Without going back, at least half their team played for them in the Premier League, I'm sure of it? Just off the top of my head - their whole defence plus Phillips, Diangana and their CM.
  2. Tbf if you're going by resources, you could say that 3/4's of the league shouldn't be so far behind Ipswich, not just us. They are having an incredible season so far. It can happen.
  3. I get that but let's not judge him on how he "might do" in the premier league when it may not even happen.
  4. Yep we really missed Smallbone and Downes going off didn't help things either. S.Armstrong is very good in that advanced position but isn't the same player deeper in the midfield. Manning just let's the winger cross the ball or run into the penalty area doesn't he? You can certainly tell he's a natural midfielder and not a defender.
  5. Good job we're not in the prem then.
  6. THB is another one who is clearly a Premier League level player. He was outstanding.
  7. I'd say Stephens is decent at this level. Probably third choice as I think Bednarek and THB are both better than him.
  8. I really hope Bree is fit - the Holgate and Manning combo at Preston wasn't very inspiring.
  9. I know Holgate isn't great but let's be realistic here, you probably aren't going to get anyone better as 4th choice in the Championship. It's just unfortunate Stephens has a long term injury.
  10. Very similar to us in they score a lot of late goals. Rotherham really are such a poor side. Just shocking we only managed a draw. Edit - spoke too soon!
  11. 1-1 now, well worked free kick but terrible marking from Rotherham.
  12. Same team but Holgate in for Bednarek. There's an argument that Fraser deserves a start but him as an impact sub seems to be working very well at the minute.
  13. So glad we get a restbite from Var this season. What a shambles.
  14. Surprising given how decent they looked against us earlier in the season. Although they've been without Sargent and Barnes for a couple of months now, so have very little up front.
  15. I wonder how many more goals we would've conceded this season with McCarthy/Lumley in goal trying to play out from the back? It would be a total shitshow. I noticed yesterday just how calm/composed Bazunu is when he receives the ball. Despite his dodgy shot stopping, he must be one of the best keepers in the country at short & long range passing. Clearly incredibly important to RM.
  16. The first half wasn't particularly great but it wasn't that bad. Just a bit slow and a lack of composure in the final third. Apart from a few set pieces I never thought Millwall would score in that game. The second half was just total domination from us, we looked very good indeed. Those who were underwhelmed by an away performance like that must lead a pretty sad life.
  17. In MLG mode but Jack Clarke is top scorer!
  18. Doubt we will see him this Saturday but would be good to have him included on the bench for the West Brom game, as that'll be a tricky one.
  19. I'd be shocked if it was S.Armstrong. His movement off the ball yesterday was outstanding and quite rightly Martin rates him highly. Overall he gives us more than Alcaraz and if anyone does drop out, I'm sure it would be him. We can't think about ceilings, we need the here and now.
  20. To be fair Birmingham's set up was perfect for what we wanted to do. It was neither here nor there. They made it very easy for us.
  21. Agreed. Blatant penalty. The Brum attacker heads it first, Bazunu misses the ball and clatters into the back of him. The offside was a very tight call for the lino and im sure we will have a few of those against us.
  22. Sorry I've not been his biggest fan to date but there's no way Martin wants us to play slow ponderous football. After the Preston game he said he wanted us to be "braver" with the ball and take more risks. I presume this means passing the ball quicker and to players who might have opposition around them. It's a tricky style to implement unless you've got top players.
  23. He's noticeably improved on the ball as well (despite the poor pass against Preston)
  24. I'll believe it when I see it
  25. Ipswich seem to be grinding out the wins. Sounds like Plymouth deserve at least a draw today.
