  1. A scuba diving suit and a bottle of sea water is just as effective I've found.
  2. England taking their T20 game to a test match 4th innings. Not seen this before. Bairstow brilliant, Stokes equally so on one leg!
  3. They've stopped taking nuclear waste lately as well. fucking ridiculous.
  4. Too many sub standard players on the field really (Phillips, Bowen, Bellingham Saka especially - just not good enough). This whole "tournament" has been a shambles from England and shown Southgate to be the mediocrity he truely is.

    Russia

There will come a point, if we're not there already, when both sides are scraping the barrel to achieve even the smallest objectives. There's numerous claims that Russia is running low on missles/tanks, and that Ukraine has expended most of it's Soviet era hardware etc etc. What is not in doubt is that Russia's military manufacturing capability is currently crippled, so it's expending current stocks, though vast, are not infinite. Similarly Ukraine is now almost totally reliant on western aid. Ukraine can only achieve it's objectives through continued western support. Whilst most European countries have given what they can (apart from Germany), it all hinges on the US. If the US and others go all in, it's over for Russia, if not, then a long protracted stalemate.

The Russians are starting to make progress these past few days in the east, in what looks like quite an ambitious large encirclement strategy. Both sides reportedly taking heavy losses, who knows how many though, even the Ukraine MOD website has stopped reporting Russian losses for nearly a week now whereas before it was a daily summary (the figures were always optimistic though). Ukraine are using the western artillery to good effect, the French Ceasar system seems particularly good along with the M777's and the like. Problem is they do not have nearly enough of it. To put it perspective Russia have over 3000 guns to call on, and a seemingly endless supply of shells.

The UK were "thinking" about ways of lifting the blockade a while ago. Turkey control the Bosphoros straights and dictate what enters the Black Sea. Meanwhile Lavrov is blaming UKraine for the grain crisis because they've mined the area around Odesa (he forgot to mention the reason they did this was to defend against an amphibious assault on the city, and the fact Russia have stolen large quantities of grain via Sevastapol). If this isn't resolved soon many people around the world will face starvation, the quantities of grain involved can only be moved by sea. The solution is simple, Russia move all their warships out of the Black Sea, they can still launch cruise missiles from the Caspian.
  8. Or stand there doing a risk assessment for an hour, by which time the poor bastard has drowned.
  9. "Apology" my arse. The mans a f*****g Nazi like his nan. How's this been kept a secret for so long, on a par with Saville , too late now though, damage done.

...."requires light restoration, easy project" If anything else, the war has certainly shown the world where each countries priorities lie. I think if Russia had conducted their "operation" in a less brutal and indiscriminate manner, and had perhaps made noises at the UN regarding the Donbas situation they wouldn't be in the mess they are now. Their MO hasn't altered, just bomb the crap out of any town/village within reach then sustain heavy casualties trying to move in. The regions they claim to want to "liberate" are largely rubble. Because of this and the generally accepted injustice of the invasion it's Ukraine that have been left with no choices, other than to fight on. I've seen may comments on Youtube videos from Germans, who generally feel ashamed at their country's lack of decisive action in supplying heavy weapons. Macron sees himself as a modern day Kissinger, but he's just an appeaser to a modern day Hitler.

Macron's been at it again : https://www.politico.eu/article/macron-putin-ukraine-invasion-mistake/ The response from Ukraine : Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba: Calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it. Because it is Russia that humiliates itself. We all better focus on how to put Russia in its place. This will bring peace and save lives. Meanwhile Russia continue to make no headway on the battlefield.
  12. I'm impressed that Winnersaint could still type having just necked over 10 pints. Fair play mate.
  13. If you can find a decent one who dosen't give it "... that's really not in my remit sir" at the slightest awkward job asked of him.
  14. The jury was 5 men and 2 women, Depp won $15M, Heard got $2M in a counterclaim about something his lawyers said during the trial, I haven't been following this that closely as I find celebrities quite tedious really. So she lied then, made the whole thing up cos she was bored. That's that then.

    Russia

They really are barking mad. In over 3 months Russia have taken just 2 cities (currently virtually destroyed), and lost 1/3 of it's military capability in the process. They're running out of tanks, missiles and combat ready men. I'm sure many thought that Zalensky was scare mongering at the start of this war when he alluded to Russia's expansionist goals not stopping with Ukraine, now it seems not. Putin just can't get over the fall of the USSR can he? He's beginning to resemble Hitler in the last days of the Reich, making grand plans on his map with armies that no longer exist. If the west maintain it's support Russia cannot win. It would be handy if the Taliban made a move on Tajikistan, doubt it though.
  17. They're all yappy , until the rat poison kicks..... oh
  18. Usually having been given "24 hours" to solve the case by the police chief because the "commissioners bending my ear".
  19. Exactly, UNF. UNC, Whitworth bolt thread pitches, bring them all back I say, together with everyone wearing a hat that signified their class in society. Not sure how we're going to deal with those pesky women who seem more interested in "working" than keeping their front step clean though...
  20. Talking of gardens, I must be the only fucker in my street that dosen't have a dog (usually left to roam in their gardens). So when one starts to bark it sets off the others in a chain, a canine symphony lasting for what seems like several hours.
  21. Can't get over he was 67. Regarding Goodfellas some genuine ex mobsters (Michael Franzese for example) felt he was too good looking to play the Henry Hill part (which he was), but in the film he was a perfect foil to DeNero's hardened criminal and Pesci's psychotic Tommy DeVito character (based on a real life mob nutter Tommy DiSimone). Aside from that, the only actor to have the top of his skull removed by the great Anthony Hopkins!

    Russia

That's an interesting read. I think in summary Russia has pushed Ukraine into a position where it simply cannot surrender, things have gone way too far for that. Russia do not have the military strength to control vast parts of the country that they are looking to occupy. While Russia have made incremental gains in the last couple of weeks, their conventional ground forces are still being routinely destroyed (re the T62 tanks being called up), this applies to most of their other armoured vehicles, supply trucks etc. If the author of the above post is right, Putin cannot be given a sniff of "victory", although the nuke threat mentioned would contravene Russia's nuclear doctrine, but when a single mad bastard controls every aspect of a country who knows. If some countries in NATO start wavering now, what good is the organization going to be when Moldova is invaded and Poland/ Baltic states threatened for example.

It seems true that Russia are creeping forward in the east, particularly around Severodonetsk which thay are continuing to bombard in their usual fashion, although they are still taking quite heavy losses as they do so. If they do manage to occupy the Donbas, which may yet take many weeks, there probably won't be much left of the towns and villages there. The T62's being called up shows how much equipment they've lost already, I don't see these obsolete units as being that effective, and if Badger is right they'll mostly self destruct anyway - they'll be raiding their musuems next for some restored T34's!
  24. 15th - overachieved I'd say. Yes we look at Brenford, Wolves (who finished the season rather poorly), Brighton, Palace etc and think we should at least be able to compete with these but the last 3rd of the season has shown where we are as a PL team. I fear it's not going to improve either, Ralph has shot his bolt here and there are simply too many sub standard players in the squad (Long and Smallbone thrown on today - why?). Overall the only players that come out of this turd of a season with any credit are JWP, and only by virture of his dead ball prowess, and KWP who is a proper PL standard player. Tella has forgotten how to control a football and the rest just don't seem to be bothered, and that's down to the manager.
