I think you will find that players didnt have agents in those days and the clubs had a strong hand, nowadays the agents rule the game, its the Wild West out there where no real rules apply. Unless you are Notts Forest owner who gets the player and agent, sits on them until they agree to sign a new contract lol

If you could hear him!!! or has that been cleaned up on the podcast?
-
I assume the dug outs are part of the Beatles/Liverpool heritage tour
-
If the theory holds that they can only get a ticket by going by coach I assume a lot of the trouble may be averted, saying that there are always morons who will make their own way to the city looking for troble. After the last couple of games v them we had a lot of banning orders and so that will deter a lot of casual fans looking for trouble. As always I assume the bloke with the bell will somehow find a way to not follow the rules
-
Apparently if we keep him a season he will then be able to run his contract down as he only would have a season left, so we would in theory lose 50% or more

Is that journalist still doing the stuff quoting Shakespeare and the rallying cry? Was his name Neil Allen??

Fair point but the capacity is has increased dramatically. They seem to have been able to get the fans close (by the few images I have seen, mre so than when we built the stadium, all optical I assume. I did put in my post 'until they dont do well'
-
To be fair Everton in their new ground and the atmosphere there could be something special......until you dont do well of course. He could be part of their refound glory although being one who was at Highbury in 84 I couldnt wish it worse for them.
-
it was against 10 men, a dubious sending off I thought
-
I thought we finished 3 points or less behind Liverpool??

If I recall correctly we lost to Sheff Wed at home that was costly, I remeber us having a tractor stuck in the corner of the pitch one time so a game was called off (rumour was so that a player would regain fitness Steve Williams??) 79 league cup final we were one up but a mix up with Nicholl and Gennoe our keeper let Forest back into the game, they went 3-1 up before Nick Holmes pulled one back but we just couldnt find another. Yes Roger f'img Milford that vain twat (Bristollian I think , played and played to let Oldham get their equaliser) Hate him to this day. Luton in i believe the quarter finals of league cup we had a very close offside decision cost us that night. As you say Wright having his leg broken cost us and the ref allowing Lawreson and Hansen hold Danny Wallace all game, they were like wrestlers. Highbury is still the main one for me, Southall saved them and then that little prick scored in extra time. We never went for it aginst Leicester in the semi final with Ralph, still the wounds of the 9-0 hung over us and it was a poor 1 nil loss , they then went on and won the cup.

He did leave a while ago, so I dont think he was a dyed in the wool Saint. Whether he will feel ok away from the club and doesnt get homesick again time will tell. Agents rule the roost and it is only going to get worse. Cortese I think gave them a torrid time, but it now seems the players agree terms with a club beofre the clubs agree fees it seems to me

We definately not a massive club but we are a large provincial club. I see lots of Saints shirts when Im around and about away from Southampton, dwarfed by the massive clubs of course. It is a shame how we were in the top league for decades but never really took advantage as we were always the bridesmaids and had we won some more trophies Im sure that would have brought more fans longterm
-
Are you feeling ok? How do you come up with probably lol
-
Shows how we have fallen, we used to sell our best players to the biggest club in Liverpool
-
So in the theory they will have Ndaiye, Alcaraz and Dibling looking to play similar roles, I cant see Moyes playing 3 creative players
-
Do blur play football then?
-
I just think we should get off his back, it does s no good ruining his confiidence and accept he has 3 more years on his contract. Managers play him and see stuff that makes them do so.
-
Interesting that as QUarsie was siad to be at fault and stood off too much in reports I saw and the ultra critical Glen De La Cour said that JS had a good game lol
-
Its hard to plan all the clubs strategy around playing that lot. I feel that Spors and Still etc do realise we need players but as been mentioned time and again we have to wait for clubs to get their replcements in place before they will let s have or players, we are down the pecking order and the players we want will want to see if there is a better option than us.Its crap but realistic
-
We're screwed?
-
I think Im going to phone the Samaritans to cheer myself up
-
I get what you are saying but to pull the wool over the eyes of so many professional managers may be that we may miss something
