Be fair though Pancake, he's not had the best service or a decent run. He's a cracking forward if given the right circumstances. He has a quick brain and gets into goalscoring positions that others fail to see

I dont know why I wasnt suprised with this. Can you tell us when Puel was interviewed if it went like this Name ? Claude Do we need to buy anyone? No You've got the job
-
That is great news,
-
Its hard to say as at that time we had a squad of superb players and team good enough to do so. Is that punching above your weight? The UK olympic team is aabove China Germany ,Russia is that punching above our weight or just that we have invested in the squad and nurtured a team.
-
dont worry we knew where you went wrong....you also got the sum wrong as well
-
I dont know is the answer. I do know we were an entertaining club for many seasons and finished 2nd in that time and so exceeded the present regime.
-
dont be ridiculous this is SFC, lol

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is a bit of a mystery to me. Why would Bayern let such a talent go, unless there is some kind of big sell on clause?
-
Typical of a Saints fans luck, we get the only billionaire football club owners who want to make money:)
-
I dont know how old you are, but all this punching above our weight and only just been promoted stuff does my head in. There was life before the PL and we were seen as a side that was bigish and many fans favourite 2nd team. We were in the top flight for 27 years on the trot before we had a blip. I have seen Man Utd, Chelsea , Man City relegated at least once and just before I was watching football Liverpool were in the old Division 2 when Shankley took over. Therefore my view of Saints is a lot higher than perhaps yours and so I am not quite so patient and forgiving

it is amazing how such big figures are now seen as little. Perhaps we should have stalled a bit on the Mane deal, there did seem haste to get it done, the way some clubs are needing the pace and excitement of Mane we may well have achieved a much higher price now. We hardly have gone out and splashed the money we have received in.
-
CB are you truly happy with that? When I was young I had the thought that whatever Saints did was great and we were the centre of the universe, after following them for nearly 50 years I now am getting more impatient for the glory and experience of actually winning things. 1976 is a lifetime away. Whilst I still have the memories of the day and the cup run I would like fans who never have sampled it to see why we long for it so much
-
that is a very good post and combined with Block34 in the Fonte thread does make sobering reading. I dont think that the League is ever a realistic possiblilty now as the window of of opportunity was the last 2 seasons.Having a good go at the cups surely is the way for a club like us.
-
All valid but as you will know the teams with the strongest squads invariably win things. We strip our strength year on year and so the team doesn't bed in to develop into a trophy winning team. I notice you mention that Wigan finished mid table, well that is where we were expect to finish. Why does it matter that Leicester won the League cups ten years ago, they did it and we didn't. Pat present all the fans who say we have improved season on season have the moral high ground and it is very valid, but I believe there is a large swathe of fans who are disgruntled but quiet, it won't take much for that to change, forget not fans sung Lowes name at stages when it looked we were on the up.

Be careful Charlie, agreeing with me will get the thought Police on you:)

I'm in the real world as I'm a winner. I don't accept being 6/7/8th being some kind of glory. No doubt you have the commemorative scarf saying we finished 6th, but that is just also ran. Why do we have to go back 10 years? The money has been insane for a long time.Wigan, Boro , Pompey, Swansea, Leicester (not only the PL), I suggest others as well. I know you will say that some are in the lower leagues,(we have been as well and there is no guarantee we might not be in the future) but they have their names on the cups, they have had the visits to Wembley and adrenaline rush of actually winning something. It is easy to roll out Osvaldo and Ramirez as examples, but probably shows we didn't do good due diligence. I'm not asking for 30+ million signings BTW. Whilst fans accept 6/7/8th being some kind of miracle, we will continue to have the same debates. I'm very happy you are satisfied with that low expectation but please excuse others who want proper success. I'm not asking for the PL but perhaps a cup or 2

Its confusing isnt it:)

CB, I appreciate your more measured reply.Im a very loyal person and so understand your position and I was in the same boat when Lowe was here as well as NC. I have just become tired of the way I believe that the club sell the assets and fail to reinvest in proven quality. I have watched lesser teams win many trophies over the last 20 or so years and wonder why it isnt us. I want to share the stories of great days out on cup winning days with fellow fans and family etc, IMO that is unlikely to happen if we constantly sell the diamonds and buy players with possible potential. Yes the club has its hands tied by the modern day agents but it seems to me that we are an easy touch and cynically we have the players made always to look the bad guys and the club shrugging its shoulders and saying what can we do. There must be middle ground on this. Anyway I will move on and hold my beliefs whether they are right or wrong until somebody can show me why. I suggest there is a large section of the fanbase who are disgruntled and in time that may come to the surface if results and performances do not match with expectations
-
yep would be good but I cant see that happening. We dont seem to do swaps, we like to take the money and then try and find someone cheaper elsewhere. Great when it works
-
this goes back years, of all the great forward lines we have had I feel the Le Tiss Rod Wallace and Shearer was the best. Le Tiss with Rod Wallace was electric. Sadly 2 of the 3 left for bigger things. Another 'if only'
-
No let me say this again so that you can eventually digest it , my comment was about you and nobody else. You are a psycophant of the highest order, you are unable to question anything the club does and blindly come on to try and insult anybody who rightly or wrongly has a different opinion on how the club is run. I have disagreed with many opinions on here ove the years and do my best to be civil, you are not bright or curteous enough to be civil to others, therefore i have to trawl the depths in remarks to you so that I can get to your level. Oh and just for the record, I am a very successful idiot, fool, simpleton. BTW, it is not the most successful period in our clubs history, there was life before the PL
-
ahh another of the clubs men. I was never part of the Go Wilde fools thanks very much.I don't get taken in by the hype and the PR these people dream up.
-
No it was just an observation of you, nobody else
-
no I was right the first time

Iam confused why you replied to a post to CB Fry, are you the one who is confused?
