I thought we had some decent fans on this site but some of the replies to the OP are pretty sad. I never knew of the rivalry until I sat in the home stand at FP in 74? When we won 2-1. There were Saints fans mixed in with the home fans and at the end OWTS was sung around the ground, there was I happily joining when a 6ft + bloke put his face to mine !with spittle coming out of his mouth screamed Spastic to me. I am not one to hate then just because they are from Pompey, I respect anyone who supports their hometown club, as. I said it is an accident of birth. I do agree their hatred of us is much deeper, I put that down to the resentment they had of us as we were the top dogs for generations especially after they were the top team pre 1950, their fall from Grace did hurt them .
-
it is all about accidents of birth, I was born in Southampton and so support them, If I had been born in Portsmouth i would have supported them. A lot comes down to our passion and pride of our home town and so we are ultra defensive to our nearest threat ( and I put that in the context of locality)

The club was a complete mess when he took over. Loads of free loaders and hangers on. We know you fell out with him as he didn't stock your books and so have an agenda. NC stopped our club being an easy touch when clubs approached us for our star players, and they knew that when NC the players were not for sale they weren't not like all the times before. Are you as confident now that when the club say a player is not for sale they mean it? He got the last penny out of a deal, and whilst we were not popular with some of the press as we didn't fawn all over them we got respect.

I can't believe how biased the after match comments were by James and. Mcmanamen. To say the decision did not change the game is ridiculous, if we had the same decision at the same time and had gone 2-1 up the game would have changed in our favour. We would have been more confident and City edgy.
-
I disagree , he spoke about Sterling, Wellbeck ,Rooney, Ashley Cole,STurridge. I suspect they are pencilled in
-
I keep hearing on here they cant afford the players etc but they do not seem near financial problems from where Im sitting. perhaps they do have a good financial plan, i know, I know but!!

you should go and post on your own favourite teams board instead of your boring constant negative drivel. Yes Man U have won lots, it means nothing to me. My best footballing moment was watching Saints beat your lot with a last minute winner at FP. It wasnt winning a cup it felt a lot better. The medals are for the players, the pride is in my hoem town club

yep sadly I think you are right, especially if Everton got fourth place
-
it would lessen the pain
-
Would still be great to get him in the summer, but I suspect Mourinho may have learned from his mistake this season. I suspect Chelsea and Evertons fortunes may have been different had the loan not gone ahead. I wonder if Jose doesn't ge on with him. Everton would be in pole position but he would be a superb signing IMO

anything to undermine the manager suits the agenda.
-
Could you shout please Mack as we can't hear you from all the way down there ?
-
he did so when he had little option due to his favourites being injured.
-
You could hear hi from the sidelines speaking English. If he did an interview in English it means nothing, all the fans want to hear is how fantastic they are etc etc
-
fair comment but I think the lure of a massive club and wages that go with it will be too much. Add to the media circus that unsettles the rest of the squad and it may be best for all.
-
It is naive to believe that Shaw will be here this time next season. I would love it if he stayed but 30million or thereabouts is still a massive amount of money. I read elsewhere on here that he and his family want him to go to Man U. With a bit of luck Real Madrid / Man City etc also come in for him and a bidding war starts up. As long as the majority of the money is used in keeping the rest of the team together then the loss will be worthwhile. He is the least of my concerns of our better players leaving, replacing AL ,to a degree JRod Mprgan or Lovren would be very difficult
-
I still believe that Hodgson will take the safe route and pick players from the top 4 before RL or JRod. The last game will tell you as he played Ashley Cole who cant even make the first team at Chelsea. RL deserves to be there, the fans of other clubs relate to him and know pulling the England shirt means everything to him unlike a lot of the other big time charlies. i do hope Im wrong but when you have goons from our own fanbase saying hes no good how can we expect Hodgson to select him

To my mind it is the scenario where the pilot gave the Malaysian gov the ultimatum about releasing his friend or he would crash the aircraft. They said no and so goodnight nurse, Malaysia and allies have played the wild goose chase and know that the black box will not be found. Anyway that's my conspiracy theory and feel it is not that unrealistic
-
And we complained about Schmichael lol that'll teach us
-
Only when he scores do a lot of fans recognise what he brings to our team. I get tired of reading the morons who think he is finished or lazy or too old etc. He is the player who we will miss most when he leaves this team. as for AL, I keep saying he needs to improve his shooting power, well today he answered that with a superb strike
-
I dont understand, I though RL was finished
-
What a day 10k saints fans celebrating, you young ones who missed this day I am sorry for. Without a doubt the most memorable moments in my supporting life.Even better than 76.
-
The person on the phone must have misheard Pompey never pay 20% of anything it would have been 2% lol
-
Ohara is a decent player and he was the only one who shone when we played them in the Cup. He would make a massive difference to them.If they have to contribute 10k for 6 weeks that is nothing compared to the loss of going down.

The emergency loan window closes tomorrow at 5. They are looking to strengthen up front. It is going to be hard to. Do that as well as a manager. I assume Awford will be caretaker. He will do enough to keep them up
