Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
OldNick replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
when LM got us promoted in the 70's we had Tony Funnel who scored loads of important goals that helped us get promoted. He never played for us in the top division, similar to BS that he was not quite right in the higher grade. Good luck Billy, I dont think we saw you at your best and i hope you carry on scoring. -
‘We will also use this opportunity to request a review of the points deduction that is being held in abeyance on the club by the Football League.’ (quote by TB) does this mean that they are going to tell the FL unless you waive the -10 they will be liquidated? I'm sure they are going to use that as a lever. Experience has shown that the FL etc will do anything to keep them alive and the waiving of a points penalty costs them nothing. Forget the precedent etc the FL make the rules up as they go along.

I recall this one was exciting

I do hope you dont have to eat those words when we play against him. IMO he is a superb centre forward and in the right team will be lethal.

That comment was used about MLT the other day on TV
-
Pes you are right they did. It is good that you do concede you are Wigan of the south.
-
i would be happy with Curtis Davies but all the posts bandying about with wages of 30k plus is madness. These wages have to be found plus the ad ons of tax and NI etc

watching the PL so far I see that there are quite a few teams who will be in the relegation mix. For me we played Wigan too early before we had got our feet in this league. If we strengthen in the next coupe of days, that will give the club a massive lift, especially if we add some much needed pace up front/wings. We need a player who can run away from a defence not slower than the centre backs. I expect us to be in the dogfight at the end and hope after 4 games we are not too far away from the pack.

it is disappointing, but the economy and opposition may have a bearing.

Top 3 most mental goal celebrations at a Saints Game
OldNick replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Saints
yep, standing at the front wall of the Archers as a kid and trying to breathe as you waited for the crush of fans pressing against you before they got back to their original place after a surge. Remember how the wall collapsed at Orient when we gained promotion. It was lucky nobody was badly injured. As for Sheff Wed away in the cup when the Saints were packed in so tight, it could easily been a disaster before the Liverpool Hillsborough -
To watch Sky the footballers football show made me sick to the core. Appleton sayig that the non contract players had other offers but choose Pompey, making out that it was down to joining them not the terms! There was Reid and Mick McCarthy fawning themselves over Pompey and Appleton, never mentioning how the club had defaulted but just about the greatness of everything. Professional football is so morally corrupt, i wish i never followed the game.

Lol, every day they are still breathing they will have got away with it. This is my opinion
-
I feel this is correct. That is not me making it up and claiming it is fact of course Lol
-
lol,nice one
-
' Reading between the lines and his 'talks' with the FL I feel he has had assurances about the -10.' Where do I say it is a fact? The wording 'I feel' is the clue. Nothing to do with stating it as a fact, but my opinion. Sorry if stating an opinion is classed as fact by you
-
Those 2 deals did not have the same saga IMO. If Everton wanted Jay and offered the same do you believe he still would have picked us? i dont believe so, and suspect the deal was delayed to see who else came in.
-
is this deal Toast or not then?
-
exactly, it always seemed convenient that their biggest potential income of the season happened to be their opening home game. Had it been Stevenage etc the crowd would have been 3-4k down on that. It will be interesti9ng to see their next couple of games attendances. f they had lost against Colchester that would also have had an impact.
-
'Make thing up' lol IMHO I have been correct in many things on this, the major one is that they were not toast and will not be. I get my hopes up and then am dashed by operators far more shrewd than those on here. We make the mistake that a football club is treated the same as any other business. The sentimental and community aspect is very powerful, add the fact that it gets treated differently in tax/debt conditions. BC will be taking them over for the reason to protect as much debt as possible. The scenario of renting the ground back to the trust may come to pass, but in the meanwhile they are not toast and are yet again limping on, with quite a decent team
