  1. good signing if true IMo
  2. don't forget Venables lol
  3. to a degree I am with you on that, but he has played top international / CL football. He has also become very wealthy. Whether staying with us would have improved him it is hard to say. Wenger obviously thought not
  4. those who live in glass houses and all that...... Channon Walcot were taken from Swindon, Blackstock, mark Wright, Oxford and Im sure many other as young players were taken away from then Div 3 clubs. We are down the food chain and so we have to get on with it. Until we are top 10 of the PL this will continue to happen and even then we will lose our very top young players to bigger clubs and CL teams. Ox's father and agent will decide what they want to do. If they have decided Arsenal is best for his development then he will go there whatever the club want. it is best that we(club) understand that and still get a decent price. Listening to NA either the club or Ox's representatives want a bidding war only what they think is best for his development. We have to take it on the chin and hope the money is reinvested into the team to get us back up the leagues.
  5. bizarre to say the least. Mugged in a large crowd, Bond standing with him?????? Left his passport and telephone though....all strange
  6. our administrator was not AA. We already had to ask LC to loan money to keep us going and there was no more to come in as far as Im aware. The point is NC got the job done, the rest???
  7. i dont think there was time for another consortium to buy it. Were there others? i did feel that Fulthorpe etc were waiting to get us for 5m or something but i dont think the administrator would have taken it. history now, but Im sure glad he got ML to put the money into us.
  8. oops, we will see if he plays today if true. Sky said the other night that he had played his last game for us.
  9. What a disgusting comment that is. I hold you in respect CB but that!!!!!! The so called man has saved the club as much as MLT ever did. You may dismiss that but it was NC who pushed Ml to buy us and is now trying his darnedest to turn our club around into something for generations ahead. SFC was about to join the Dodo, and thanks to Pinnacle we nearly did. So before you spit and snarl think that the foreigner who had no attachment to the club is owed a lot of debt by the fans. He will, like all chairman, have to make some unpalatable decisions that many dont like but in time it will be for the greater good. He can't go out onto the pitch and do a sublime pass or score that makes the fans drool and forgive the lazy pass or not tackling, but he can set the footings for a future that my kids and grandchildren can still enjoy. MLT did some wonderful things but he did not save the club from extinction, in fact he was nearly party to help do so.
  10. so he is going to Sunderland in a £3m deal....if only he had been given a chance here. His connection to Pompey didnt help
  11. any government of any persuasion get into trouble as soon as they start wielding cuts on the Civil service. John majors government felt that and the Coalition will find the same. There will be lots of leaks that will make the government uncomfortable, all to save the mandarins in Westminster. As for Coulson, it was a bad error keeping him.
  12. you have to take out the S?T money already received. Tommorrow will be a sell out and so they will get 10k sales but generally they will only be getting 5-7ooo pay per match sales
  13. i suppose to a degree, it is a new club and in NC's position nothing that went before our administration really has anything to do with the Phoenix that came from the ashes. I still believe in the clubs history is relevant but perhaps NC and ML didn't

    PMQs

the problem is though, the opposition parties at the time were fed a pack of lies by the labour leader
  15. and if they are Utd fans in the saints section? i know if i bought 10 tickets and many were away fans i could risk losing my season ticket. MLT is a hero and seems still to love the club, but why does he keep letting these things get into the media?
  16. a very good buy if they get him. Yet again Pompey clear the decks of the young players and then try and buy in a player. It is unbelievable but nothing surprises anymore
  17. He's hardly Comical, he has saved Pompey and his boss. With clever taking the rules to the limit he has shown everyone what an ass the law is. The creditors in the main gave up on the money owed ages ago, and i suspect most are fans of the club and are happy to be raped by them. It is only fans like us who get up in arms as we can see they are putting 2 fingers up to the authorities and football and getting away with it. You have to admire how good he is, and has a quick mind to find every angle to get around problems. Whether he can now find other gullible fools to fall into the same trap is another thing.Im surprised any business is supplying them
  18. surely being on chelseas books his wages would be pretty big
  19. lol I was there but that side was never in with a shout of going up. IMO it is a pertinent concern, but we are where we are, posters do not seem to understand the thread title as Man Utd an unwanted distraction? it was not a statement but a question to debate. I await the gnashing of teeth if the games pre and after effect our automatic chances.
  20. lets hope HR's accoubnt has been leaked, it would be good if the Nazi gold was mentioned as well. The Swiss banks never had a conscience regarding that issue either
  21. there is no need for him to hit the stewards and it was right he was thrown out. It does irritate when we are told to sit down all the time. When Man u come their fans will not be told to sit down. I was watching the Liverpool fans on the Kop and they all were stood up the whole game and their stewards did nothing to try and make them do so. Is their health and safety different up North or is it a case we have jobsworths in charge of giving orders to our stewards? It is time the club sorted this out. Unless the club take a zero tolerance to all fans home and away sections we should be allowed to stand.
  22. i'm always right and surprised anyone dare have another opinion.
  23. thats fine in your mindset. I thought that the thread may get some reasonable replies but it seems posters thoughts are just dismissed. I truly hope we do well against Man u and we win at Exeter and the games that follow. As for enjoyment of being a fan Lol, over 40 years of seeing the team do well one match and them disappoint has stopped my real optimism that a lot of the youngsters on here still have. The club will make money , great, the chances are that we will be totally outclassed (aka The last time we played them in the cup) and watch them have plenty of possession as they run the clock down. Perhaps I will be surprised and we outplay them and win but I just hope there is no cup hangover.
  24. it is not about losing or winning it is about the distraction as per the opening thread title. We are where we are and so have to get on with it, but had we drawn a L1 team or even a Championship team many of the posters on here would have a different view on how important the game was compared to winning the league games. The energy of the team leading up to and after the game will be drained more than if we had a normal league fixture. If that spills over into a bad result on the tuesday, i expect many of the critics against this thread will be up in arms and at the end of the season it could also be crucial. Please do not try and tell me that playing Man u will not spill over one way or another.
  25. Lol so true> I have told someone that i may get a couple of extra tickets but they are tied to getting tickets for the Carlisle game.....they didn't phone back Lol
