OldNick replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in General Sports
yep they can f### off to space -
Is he Merovian on here? I think e has something to do with one of the Pompey forums (290)

I notice ours has doubled te rest seems to have gone up gradually in comparison. We are not officially out of recession the others are. Figures can be read many ways. I still feel this coming year is going to be very bumpy.I hope Mr Brown gets in to reap what he has sowed.
-
Yes, but the blueprint that I see is that it is horses for courses.Use players who know their way around L1 then bring in players who know CCC and so on. It is no use bringing in players who are not cut out for the battle of this league. I agree I dont see any of the team being PL standard and the same was whne we had AS etc. They were only ever CCC at best. Perhaps KD in his top form would make a PL team.
-
thanks Weston. That makes the ratio a little better.
-
that is sad, but not as sad as someone actually having a look to see how many everybody is posting lol. 288 now, although that does surprise me
-
are you trying to offend me. Lol Happy new year to all. I agree about leaving AP to it
-
It was not AS fault he was overrated by fans. He seems a decent lad but his lack of pace will always make him a lower league player. I had hoped he would develop into a top player but that didn't happen
-
Ivan Golac he is not and i would rather Murty but i get tired of fans looking for scapegoats all the time. His crossing is not as bad as you make out IMO. I can promise you for personal reasons I could be very anti him, something that I cant go into on here.
-
That is fair and yes the fans are not at fault (except the JCL's) I think that the gloating has not helped but im sure the gloating from this end has not helped build bridges for the future either. It is funny how one of your friends on here (loosely) has disappeared and as has always been suggested he is only around when he can feel superior. (gardening leave Lol) It is people like him who gloated that i feel no sympathy for.
-
you are getting a tad desperate to justify your position Derry. You believe he cant cross the ball others disagree get over it. Your figures clutched from the air do you no favours. He is not responsible for 20+ crosses a game and even if he was the 7 assists were for goals scored not for finding the man or taking into account saves etc. As DD rightly points out, to be fair you should now point your finger at AL , Morgan and dan Harding as their contribution is far less.
-
well if you only count them from the bye line then perhaps you are correct. I have seen many superb crosses from many different players this season.
-
And AL being vaunted as a top class player who started taking all the corners, how does that leave him then? Lambert takes all the pens and freekicks (some from 30yards+) and so is his returnpoor as well. I think we are both criticising the wrong things here.
-
Is that so?crikey
-
Thanks for that. These things dont show the true picture but helps guage a little. I am surprised that AL has not higher assists.
-
Well I dont see them as hopeful crosses. We should know that the lower leagues teams are normally well equipped for crosses.Normally each team has 2 lumps of centre halves who clear the ball and everyone else. In the main LJ crosses are in the correct area, and 7 assists does show not a bad return. i doubt there are many others up there from defence or midfield.
-
7 assists is not fantastic but still useful, it also doesnt take into account opportunities created but not taken.
-
but their fans have not the expectations and so they can take longer to build. We lose a game and all of a sudden the manger is no good, and the players are rubbish all of a sudden. It's like spoilt kids.
-
Well most crossesc are lofted, if you play them all along the ground many wont get past the first defender. Who delivers the ball better?
-
Are you the top class defender then Weston? you sit with Derry and so no doubt have similar opinions. Most of james crosses come from 20 yards out with bend and pace. it vis AL's that are floated and easily taken by the keepr, hence why he is no longer on corner kicks
-
Good job you aint an Ipswich fan. They didnt have a -10 spent loads and have a rated manager.
-
I went ot a game with a top class centre forward and he said that a bullish centre forward would lap up a lot of the delivery that came from james. Getting to the byeline is great ( a bit of a common theme to you derry) but if you watch a lot of games there are few right backs who get to the byeline to cross. Especially if you lack pace to get back to defend.Wingers it should be a priority but that skill is a dying art, and again MLT rarely did so but stil provided much for Dowie to waste.
-
We are playing L1 football, and so not all crosses will be spot on. In fact even the great MLT put them into the crowd and keepers hands on many occasions. If Murty was fit I would expect james to be on the bench, crossing and set pieces dont get you picked unless you are beckham.
-
We had a lot of different views about another player in the past, so we obviously look at different facets. James curls the ball away from the keeper and towards the oncoming forward, to me he delivers the ball better than any other player in the team. His tackling etc..well thats a different thing

We all rate different players WGS gave Kevin Davies away for nothing!! I felt Holmes would star this season...but
