Are you for real??? Were we at different games? In the first 2 minutes he came charging out didnt call and Perry nearly passed it into an open goal.He then took a simple catch dropped the ball through his legs.He made a pathetic diving catch for the cameras and nearly spilled it.He did not at any time take a cross fom a corner. The ball was cleared off the line twice. A shot at him at head height spilled from his hands and fortunately went sideways and not to the goal. His distribution was useless and and as for the goal it was comical.Read my earlier post regarding the double save. As I stated I was sitting with the Exeter fans and it was comical how they viewed him and they sensed how unsettled the team were with the keeper.

Perhaps during the summer break he was at the club sorting out the mess that we were in.That his sons who he was taking on the fishing vacation are more important to him as it was when they were available. Mandaric was away the last game of last season where Leicester were relegated,I suggest that was more important. if MW and Crouch were there that was enough.RL was not playing last night although he would have done a more capable job than Bart.

exactly, its no diferent to any other football club.It is a hungry animal to feed.Even after cutting out all those essentials we are still losing 300k a week.
-
On the telly's low lights the whole of the Pompey section was sprinkled with fans in Mna u shirts.

I only looked this morning and saw the furore, it has been widely mentioned on here RL was on vacation and it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the thread. There are so many wanting to jump to conclusions.

From what I saw Wes, that was not quite the case.Exeter were not playing good passing football but our defence and midfield was not balanced. We did play some quite good stuff in periods in the first half and made a few chances. The defence were made very nervous by some slapstick goalkeeping. Perry lost faith in leaving the ball for Bart and so ended up kicking the ball away insted of leaving it for him. When Jan made the changes and the balance looked better we were fluid. Thomson will be good but at present he makes the wrong decisions and couldnt find our own man.

I thought the Saints fan on the show was a bit embarrassing. He didnt mention The performance at all and then went on about 'wheres the money gone' FFS.

Iwont shy away from a wager, but the stakes are too high for me..to agree with Alpine for a week is too much for me.Im gonna e-mail Duncan
-
And what time did you fly back Alpine?
-
First 20 minutes we were not in it.Thomson looks as though he will be OK later on but at the moment not ready. Gillete though tidy was not really in the game and we needed Euell to add a bit of bite to the midfield. We came into the game and some good passing moves were good to watch. Holmes was my M.o.t.m. Wotton cleverly broke their offside trap and Holmes did a great finish. Quite a few scares the defence were unsure and Bart was awful, comical if it wasn't so serious. Second half Wotton went intodefence and Morgan moved into midfield. We looked better and the quality of the attacking was a beauty to behold.Stern made a big difference and the inter play between Holmes, Lallana , Mcg, and John was a great. Holmes went thropugh and although he did miss he looked that he would score and it was a surprise he did not, unlike the feeling you get when some players are bearing in on goal. As for their goal it was a joke and Bart againwas at fault. Overall the defending is a worry, the attacking good on the eye. Lee Holmes potential to be a very good signing, and all those Derby fans who said he was poor, are not very good judges if he keeps up the standard.

you are kidding surely? I was sitting in the area with the Exeter fans in the centre stand. They were in histerics with the clowns antics. He caught the ball and dropped it through his legs he never knew whether to come and clear and stay on his line. The douible save you say about I was in line with, the first save was good but he pushed the ball straight to the onrushing forward who should have scored but hit it straight at Bart.As for their goal and a couple of catches for the cameras just added to the very poor display.

It had to be before that as I recall.I have a feeling someone on Saintsforever put up an Echo clipping of the event and it was early 70's Perhaps Duncan Holley will be best informed to give us the correct year?
-
no on e has answered my question.IS IT PAY ON THE GATE TONIGHT? I would appreciate an answer ta.
-
but you could get 2 s/t holders from Saints and they may rubbish a player you rate. I suggest we give him a chance and use our own eyes.I saw him play at Salisbury and he seemed he had something about him.
-
Its not going to be that clever for you either if saturday was anything to go by. You may scoff at Holmes but time will tell, he might feel better and get a chance here to fourish.Only time will tell.
-
Some are fine , so far the ones that have joined are not in your face.
-
S o much you say again is correct. As for the investing after the FA cup final, Philips should have done more.He perhaps was only half hearted when he joined .He never really seemed totally committed. We must also point the finger at WGS for not buying a better quality, Neil McCann FFS
-
All you say is correct, but the things Iam hearing make somebody who is normally cynical believe something is indeed about to happpen. Now the people I hear these things from are not the buyers/sellers/or loaners but normally are sound with their titbits. Anyway what is wrong with being omptimistic. It adds to our colour of life

You are right, nut isnt it funny I doubt we could recall a game of that season but the memory of that Policemans actions was priceless.Dont forget the bloke who he thought had run onto the pitch fired a gun as well, and the Copper really showed some guts.
-
Just seen on SSN a report on Saints re Exeter game.I was impressed with the way Jan was coaching and quite animated during the training.
-
Now that is more like it. 10/10
-
It was well before that picture , it was before either end had been developed.
-
Thats right I forgot about the bloke on the tannoy. Priceless
-
no it was well before then.It would have been circa 1972-74
-
I was a youngster then, but no doubt you were in pubs from the age of 10
