  1. I myself am seen as very pro Lowe but I have never defended his decision to try and bring back GH. Stupidly I still do not regret my stance against him, even though we are now in a lower league. If RL had suceeded in bringing him back I was going to hand my s/t back.Whether i would have been able to never go and watch Saints again is hard to tell.No doubt the pull of the club would be too much and Id return.I recall at the time that RL was going to install GH just before the Pompey game and if we had beaten them many of us would warm to him again.. Iam very loyal until I am let down and so I suspect I would be a rabid anti RL now if he had employed GH. That is how I see it, whether I would have made such a sacrifice and just shrugged my shoulders and got on with I really wouldnt be aqble to say for sure.
  2. Yep but Ill be wearing my lead filled glove.
  3. I remeber that day, although I didnt go.Brian O'neill and Osgood scored if I remeber correctly in a 3 -0 victory.Too little too late , it was the defeat home to Brum that cost us that season
  4. He does and so do I. If he as lucky as me then we are both happy. My wife did laugh when I told her your observations of me.
  5. Shhhhh you are not supposed to ask difficult questions.I doubt that many on here were around in those days. I do understand that if fans have been brought up only seeing top flight football it is harder for them than the fans who have seen the highs and lows of relegation and promotion.
  6. No its not, 3 clubs a season go down from the PL and so are are all thise chairman to blame? It is down to many factors, you have to take the rough with the smooth.
  7. Oh thanks I don't watch it. i might flickover to it later.
  8. Seeing that picture I wouldnt worry they'd look like bookends together if my glimpse of MB is anything to go by
  9. the girl from heroes is near on a midget. Sarah Dunn (ex Hollyoakes) Kiera Knightly although she is too proper Rachel Welch in her prime Julie Christie likwise. and a former Page 3 girl called Sian Adey Jones I know it is supposed to be 3. Who is the Duffy girl?

    SWP back to City

SSN said this morning that he had chosen Pompey. He was offered 80k a week by Man c.
  11. its like reading Viz or Private eye. Glorious stuff Scooby. Can you put owning pidgeons and ferrets in one of your posts, or shove ha'penny.?
  12. Exactly Mickey, and as for the sanctimonious replies to my comment...
  13. It is serious of course but as has been stated I was answering when we had been told that MC was not in a serious life threatening condition and his son was safe. Only now do we know the other facts and SSN news had sensationalised the heading to gain attention. If it had been a car crash involving 2 Joe Soaps, it would not have been on SSN and you would not be making such comments.
  14. That is something I read on this is Hampshire just now. The SSN bit was about MC and as much as I feel for the driver it was not the thrust of the story and sadly these things happen on our roads everyday. My initial concerns were allayed as we were told they were not life threatening injuries and so I was annoyed that my fears were raised about an old hero of mine, and that was not quite accurate how it was portrayed.
  15. All very fair.Of course it would add to other revenue streams if fans turned up. The club shop would generate more, more pies and Yorkies would be sold, more beer sales. That would all add to the health of the club.It wouldn't cure it all but perhaps give the banks and potential investors some faith in us.
  16. and were you one of the fans who thought Holmes was no good because the Derby fans had said so? Give the bloke a chance he may be rubbish but so far Jans/RL's (take your pick who chose them)signings have been good.
  17. FFS was that a sensationalist bit by SSN? My understanding of a injury in a serious road crash is not a broken arm
  18. There is a difference Mike. The principles should be there the whole period of his stewardship. It is not about RL getting us to Cardiff or him being responsible for relegation. If you have principles and hated RL the same should be held then and now, not pick and chose.Im not saying you are by the way but in general.
  19. My mum killed a seagull on a golf course like that. Obviously we mentioned having a birdie and Albertross etc
  20. Well DD is a sailor boy and so it might be his turn in the barrel. I suspect there are a few erect#### in Pompey when they see that picture.
  21. well the thing about Cardiff is what happened to the principles then?It strikes me hypocritical that the principles are dropped when we arer successful but adhered to when we are not.Surely you can see that
  22. Strachan didnt like his attitude.WGS also stated we enquired about Rosicky but were put off by the £12 m price tag.
  23. What terrible news, one of my boyhood heroes.
  24. If people are sacked they get a financial remuneration.Managers whoever they have performed get payoffs and so why shouldn't the chairman?Afterall it was the fans who wanted him gone and so we knew there would be money in compensation paid out.Generally the majority I feel realise that the Wilde bunch was a mistake.MW realise it and so do others. We will never know if we would have gone this way if the finances were not so dire, but in a happy way it may have been a good thing.
  25. As usual well put, I cant agree with some of it but understand some of your gripes. I feel chastened to see staff cut, but the fringe staff are always likely to go first as there are others who can double up the work.It really is a case of cutting where you can.I dont know if RL etc have taken a pay cut, but I suispect they have been prudent and after relegation he did take a cut in his wages. As for an apology, Im informed that he did apologise, I didnt hear it and dont worry about it.To me the players let us down, they were the ones who had no backbone and threw away so many chances of escape and in that particular season the 3 teams up were the poorest there had been. We should have been comfortably safe well before the end of the season. With that squad and taking into account the change of managers, there are no excuses to mess up.HR was given over half the season. RL was in part responsible for not replacing Wigley sooner (of course he already had been tagged a sacking chairman, and so this may have been why he was loathe to do quickly) but til my dying day I will recall the stupidity of Crouch sent off in a 6 pointer, not taking the ball into the corner, Prutton sent off , banned for months and his miss from 5 yards at WBA, losing the 2 goal leads etc etc.
