He was a classy player but as others have said he was not suited to Premier League and his injury record is horrendous. Reports of him being on £65,000 a week are probably wide of the mark. I suspect a lot of that was appearance and other bonuses. I suspect his basic, which is probably all he collected most weeks, was below £40,000. Still a massive amount and if we can make some savings out of that we should go for it.

Interesting report on possible signings. http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2015/content/story/918227.html

Good win. Shame about his hamstring injury. I do not know how bad it is at the present but he is a big doubt for Somerset next Wednesday. Still we will have Tomlinson, Briggs and Crane available to us. Tomlinson has been offered a lead bowling coaching role with Hampshire over the winter and is delighted. He has a year left on his contract but I can see him moving more to coaching with Topley coming in. Nothing more on having Edwards next season. I suppose it depends on what division we are in for the clubs point of view Rumour that Adams will not be playing next year. I was with his Dad for the early part of the England Australia game but the rumour came later so I did not get chance to ask him Another rumour (Echo) doing the rounds is that Watson might be are overseas next year. Wait to see on that one but it might make sense. He is still a class player.

I had some great sources during the many takeover pre admin. People supposedly involved. It turned out to be bull **** I had some great sources during the Admin period. People supposedly involved. It turned out to be bull ****. Papers quote sources close to.... more bull ****. Deal with facts and not sources. We already had our two domestic loans. Fact is we could not take more. Spurs would know that so again the sources are bull **** -
We cannot pay big wages. We are on a tight budget. We lost money on the recent "gig" much to the clubs dismay. We took all the risk and Boys Own were paid no matter what the situation. We do have revenue streams but......

Wood will not likely progress as he has degenerative knee issues. I spoke to him the other day and although he is fine for 1 day games the longer form at 1st team level is a long way off. Massive shame but the signing of Topley will be a great addition and a coup by the club. We are still in talks with Fidel Edwards as well or were when I talked to Giles White a couple of weeks ago

Warwickshire Kent just abandoned. Hampshire will now be in QF but away from home unless they can beat Notts. Inspection at 8pm. At present we will be away to Gloucester Now confirmed. Gloucester v Hants at Bristol next week, date to be confirmed

Sants 0 - Everton 3: Post match rage thread
Weston Saint replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
Koeman said: “Everybody knows we are working at one more defender, and then I think we have a very good squad for this season, and we know that. A little bit unlucky in our options what we don’t have at the moment. “One defender on the bench and Matthew Targett played 90 minutes and he was ill, he wasn’t 100 per cent and we have to accept that and we can’t change that situation.” -
2nd Semi it is. Think it is all about logistics. Hampshire have furthest to travel so given more time.

I am registered to microsoft and can log in to my account to get the key number. In the meantime windows troubleshooter found and fixed a couple of issues so I am trying to download and install 8.1 now
-
I am running a windows trouble shoot at present. See if that works. My windows 8 was installed by John Lewis on a newly purchased laptop over 2 years ago a

Explain? as I am not technically minded
-
The problem is that you cannot upgrade to windows 10 until you have installed all updates. Windows 8.1 is an update and as I have said it is that which is the problem.
-
I have a problem in that I have Windows 8. My system keeps reminding me to update with Windows 8.1. My system check says everything compatible including my apps. Downloads ok and then just as the computer (Laptop) restarts it then restores Windows 8 and says it cannot complete at this time. Tried it 4 times over he last few months and even turned off my virus protection in case that was blocking (although Kaspersky is compatible) As a result I cannot upgrade to Windows 10!! Any ideas

Only a friendly among younger players but good to see he appears to be ready to come back into the first team. Today followed a good net on Sunday.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Weston Saint replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
That is sensible. You KBSS & Monk have a good reputation on here for getting good information. If the club want it kept quiet, there is good reason. Thanks for clearing up your absence. -
They have been discussing since he came back. Club want him, he wants to stay so providing finances sorted it should happen.

What a great day for Hampshire CCC Could this be the the start of the revival which started on the last day of the Durham game when we avoided defeat.

Good news from the youngsters. Weatherley (opening batsman) scored his second century of the week 102 not out at lunch for the seconds against Glamorgan. He also took 3-20 of 16 overs yesterday. Terry also featured (other opener) in the runs with 97 For England under 19 warm up today against Unicorns including Graham Onions opening the bowling Alsop (opening for England) is 68 not out at Lunch but Onions got him soon after Weatherley, Taylor and Crane will be joining England under 19 for a one off unofficial test against Australia Under 19's next week
-
I keep hearing on hear about our lack of developing young players Dawson, Vince, Briggs, Woods and Bates all played for England Under 19's and all have developed and gained much 1st team experience. Dawson is very much a regular (save this recent blip that the club seem to have accepted as an error). Vince is having a poor season but no doubting his class. He even captained the Lions in the winter! Briggs has played for England in IOD and T20. He is a regular in the first team and our recognized no 1 spinner. Woods was coming along nicely but got a knee injury and degenerative osteoarthritis has set in. Hardly the clubs fault. Bates recognized as one of the best glovemen in the country but despite many hours trying to coach his batting he just does not have it. Somerset have taken him on trial and he has played 10 county championship innings for them. Highest score of 16. Nowadays your wicket keeper has to score runs We have a few youngsters now. McManus (Wicket Keeper) who has just saved the game for Hampshire with a batting 53no. He was Englan Under 19 last year. Crane who has taken 5 wickets on his debut. Weatherill (opener) picked as captain of England Under 19's next week along with Taylor and Crane. These are young talented players. Add to that Alsop (batsman who can also keep wicket) as an under 19 England last year. Then we have Sean Terry who has done a decent job when he came in. Brad Wheal who has been given his chance this year (it was not intended he play as much 1st team as he did) Barber was our bowling hope but he does not look like being ready yet.
-
I have been quite defensive towards our club but something is definitely not right. Who was it who decided to ask Carberry to step down to No 3 (yes despite rumours that Carberry asked but did not - but he did say he would do it for the youngsters when asked) and then in this game restored him to opener. Who told Dawson he would not feature as his batting was not up to it forgetting his excellent bowling support and slip fielding but then within his first month recalled him from his excellent stay in Essex rediscovering his love for cricket)! Who persuaded Adams to step down as captain to concentrate on his form and then handed it to someone whose form was worse and needed to concentrate on his batting. Who asked for a spinners wicket to be produced because he feared Durham's seam and then dropped our number one spinner. Crane has had a good debut but that is not the point! Spoke to Durham people yesterday and they say he was an excellent man manager. So he may be but his decision making looks very suspect.
-
Jimmy Adams steps down as captain to concentrate of batting. As it is also he benefit year, he has a young family and his dad is not well and it is a sensible approach. James Vince to take over captaincy. Interesting one with Dawson being recalled wadesmith. I was told Terry would start against Durham but that must now be in doubt! I will try to speak to Dawson's Mum tomorrow to try to get the inside story. Squad v @DurhamCricket: Dawson, Adams, Carberry, Vince ©, Smith, Gatting, Terry, Wheater, McManus, Bird, Berg, Briggs, Crane, Tomlinson. Adams decision- it's so he can find form with the bat and looks as though he will return to role if that happens. (Radio Solent)
