  1. Not so. I was there this evening with a full coach load, most of whom watch 4 day games and are regulars. Good day. Thought Egbaston was shabby and not a patch on the Rose Bowl. Good atmosphere though. Great win. Always felt we ewere just in control throughout the game.
  2. Adam has a niggling knee injury. Had an injection last week. Resting it until Wednesday and will try again. No truth in the earlier rumour that he is out until September.
  3. No, all unallocated seats
  4. Flew past my window quite low. Fantastic sight.
  5. My pension is in the private sector. 40/60ths. Final Salary (average final 12 months) option to go at 60. Non contributory. Added 5 years service if redundancy (incl voluntary) after 50. Also if I die wife gets 2/3rds of my pension. Not suprisingly I took voluntary redundancy at 51 after 33.5 years service. 5 years added. so 38.5/60ths. No further reduction for fact I was getting it from 51. Since I went in Dec 2003 the firm have started to take contributions from salary of 5%, then did away with 5 year added service, then Government extended earliest it could be taken to 55 and now they are closing the scheme to existing members. How lucky I was to get an opportunity to go when I did. Don't need to work again.
  6. For the England v Australia IOD at the RoseBowl the charge in the Robin Smith was £525 plus vat per person with a minimum table of 10. That gave champagne reception, 3 course dinner and free bar all day (incl spirits) They sold out!
  7. One again a club whinging because they are being hard done by. IF they have paid the salaries to players and deducted the tax and IF they have collected VAT from customers, it is not their money to do what they like with! IT SHOULD BE PAID TO HMRC. Why do they and the bank find that so difficult to understand.
  8. Michael Bates was with England Under 19's but called back and now withdrawn. So who did England pick to take his place - Adam Rouse another up and coming Hampshire Academy Wicket Keeper who made his debut for England yesterday.
  9. Surely the employees were laid off AFTER ADMINISTRATION papers filed with the court. Therefore "AA" in his capacity as Administrator of PFC going forward is responsible to pay up? They are not part of the debt at the date of Administration.
  10. Dimitri Mascarenhas and vice-captain, Nic Pothas have both been ruled out for the rest of the 2010 season through injury http://www.rosebowlplc.com/news/hampshire-suffer-double-injury-blow/
  11. Looking forward to this on Monday. Just booked my ticket via Warwickshire Web Site and Coach from Rosebowl. All systems go
  12. That is why I did not predict!
  13. I think I will wait and see how we play and if Pardew is able to curb his enthusiasm for the "safe" game. We need to be able to counter teams who go defensive by adventurous play. Midfield must click and we need plenty of movement off the ball including wide play. We also need to be able to play on lesser pitches. I am very enthusiastic about our season but guarded on automatic promotion
  14. http://www.rosebowlplc.com/news/hampshires-emerging-talent-selected-for-kent/ Fully support Hampshire's reasons.
  15. No he will be a support player just as Waigo and Antonio were.
  16. Because those released were weak and dragged us backwards when they came into the team. OK we have lost Waigo and Antonio but they were loan players. I liked Waigo, think he added pace but Antonio made a lot of poor football decisions. Pardew has already said he is looking to bring in a Lambert style support player. They take time
  17. I don't although I would like to see a box to box midfielder by early start of season if not before.
  18. Butterfield can play a support role as CM when Richardson is fit. Harding can switch to the right back if necessary. He will likely also only have a support role this season. Oxlade-Chamberlain is being groomed as support to wide midfield. I think we are stronger going into this season.
  19. Stu, how much revenue do you think Saints earned last season from football and ancilliary events? I am betting net of vat it is not likely to be more than 7 million. What do you think expenditure was over that period when you take into account salaries, running costs and net transfer/agents fees? I am betting it will be a lot lot more than income. The club is building and you have to invest money prudently to do so. That will be money over and above income until the promised PL is reached and our academy produces more players.
  20. Bates was fantastic behind the stumps. Stood up to Woods overs and then to Corks last. Lightening quick takes. We have found a star. Pothas was unwell so Bates drove down from Loughborough at 9am this morning.

  22. Jayhard?
  23. What we do not know is who we are talking to at present. Players for teams have only been back a short while. To deal with approach, permission, negotiation, agreement, signing takes time, particularly if you want the right type of player. Remember also that we have a pretty good first team now. That means anyone coming in will likely be for cover only. You are going to find it difficult getting L1 quality if they are not going to go straight into the team. I suspect our signings will be later than anticipated because of this. Players will look at all options before committing to a particular contract or club.
  24. Paul Allen did not make any approach to the club. His company confirmed as much. There was an approach from someone who said he represented Allen's business deals. Turns out he was not connected other than he arranged a jet lease for Allen. Some of the Directors of the club truely believed Allen was behind the initial approach but Allen has always denied it. I am now firmly of the opinion Allen and his company was never involved. (Which is a change from my previous stance) And no Trousers, I never sent ny email.
  25. QUESTIONS ANSWERED EXPERT Gerald Krasner, Insolvency Specialist THE man who was chairman of Leeds United during one of the most troubled periods of the club's history speaks to The News about the challenges which now face Pompey. What do you make of HMRC's objections? They are standard objections. There are very few grounds on which you can object to a CVA and these are the standard ones. What happens next? There has been an appeal to the High Court on a technicality that the CVA is prejudicial in the way in which football creditors are dealt with. Normally an appeal like this would go to the High Court in about two to three months and a judge would rule on it then. But it doesn't work that way with football clubs. They will have to get an early hearing because the new season is just weeks away. In order to get things sorted out before the new season they have to get into court during the next couple of weeks. It is in the administrator's interests to get that sorted out as quickly as possible. What will the administrator be doing now? The administrator will now be instructing his lawyers. The lawyers will be earning more money from this. It's up to the administrator to get his act together now. They will be working out what to do in defence of the CVA. The hearing will go into the realms of technicalities that will be beyond the understanding of a lot of people. What happens if the appeal is successful? The administrator wouldn't have time to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new CVA. He would probably try for a quick sale of the club but would find that difficult. If Pompey can't pay their football creditors in full then their 'golden share' (the right to play in the Football League) will not be transferred to them and the club will disappear. How do you think the appeal will go? My money is on the revenue losing, but with the High Court, who knows? Will Pompey face a points deduction in the new season?Leeds had 15 points for not getting a CVA agreed. Bournemouth got 17. It is at the Football League's discretion. They will look at the financial history of the club. In my view if they do get one it will be between 15 points and 20 points. If the CVA does go through there will be no points deduction, if it doesn't there will. How does Pompey's financial meltdown compare to that of other football clubs in recent history? It is much bigger than Leeds and at the time, Leeds was the biggest. Portsmouth is the classic iceberg story, people are only seeing what is going on above the water line. Can there be a further appeal to the court's decision at the appeal hearing?Yes. Whatever the decision is, whether it goes in favour of the administrator of the revenue, they can both appeal. Sometimes it is possible to hear an appeal like that at the Court of Appeal within four days. The problem is it will be August and during August much of the judiciary is away on holiday, which could slow things down.
