  1. Or the famous one "the batsman's Holding the bowler's Willey"
  2. Can we have our money back please!
  3. Doncaster have injury problems. Assume it is a 1 month emergency loan. As FF says it is strange to see him go to a higher league but cannot get into our team. However perhaps as we gain momentum Pardew sees us as better than Doncaster Not on any of the news or football sites yet! However NickH usually gets it right on such things
  4. I too agree with Saint Lard. Pardew actually said after the game "We're looking a strong unit and whilst we're not looking as good as the top teams in this division we're getting better"
  5. You are right about the left being unbalanced by Adam playing. However if he keeps putting in the goals and performances he will do for me. Pardew will need to find a way of resolving this issue. It is making it very hard for Harding
  6. He does have good parents Phil, his father is a personal friend of mine. Adam is not looking for a move in January. As for what was said about a Premier club coming in for him pre season, it was Wolves for £500,000 it was not really that serious. Club made a bit of it to boost his confidence. Pleased to see him finding the net so often. His parents are very proud.
  7. To be honest I was quite insulted by the remark from him but felt it best not to respond other than state what his family have said to me.
  8. I can only tell you what his family have said and it is not in accord with what you were told.
  9. Agree but we are basing this on now with present form of ex saints players (short term injuries excepted)
  10. Actually McCarthy is very pleased with Drew. Even bought him on to do a job for Wolves when they were 1-0 up against Wigan away telling him he was putting him on as he knew he could hold the midfield. He did and they won. When you know what you are talking about DT or if you had expressed it as an opinion then fine but your post comes out as a statement of fact. It is not.
  11. OK, I will declare an interest here. I have been good friends of Drew's mum and dad since 1971 and keep in regular touch. Drew was approached by the club when it was in Administration and it was put to him that he might have to be sold to bring in finances to pay the wages. I will not say what then happened over the next month or so as that has to remain private. Eventually with the club still saying they needed him to go to raise money he signed for Wolves and sent a nice letter to Sheffield United thanking them for their interest. He is very happy at Wolves. He knows he will need to keep battling to get a start but he is most certainly part of the match day squad. Unfortunately a few weeks ago he suffered a knee injury and that has kept him out. He would have been very happy to stay at Saints and was still under contract. Had we been bought out of Administration earlier would he have stayed? Everything I have been told suggests he would. Personally I think we have lost a fine player but am pleased for the lad.
  12. They have to be a present part of a Premier first team squad and have previously played for Saints under contract (not loan contracts)
  13. Another good reason not to have Davenport in the side. Agree with your comments on Quashie, he is a jinx
  14. Right thanks, so he does not qualify at present.
  15. Cyprus? Onwards or back to blighty soon?
  16. Could not see Andrew Davies in the Stoke squad or I would have put him in at centre back. Lowe did well to get our money back on him. A good player but always injured.
  17. Thought about Beattie but we already have Jones & Crouch who I would put ahead of him. Likewise Kevin Davies. We had Davenport on loan for a while and he could go into the central back. Better now that he was then but I have tried to limit it to players with Saints on full contracts.
  18. Have to admit I think my team would struggle to stay out of the bottom three.
  19. -----------------------------Taylor (Birmingham)-------------------------------- Delap (Stoke) -----------Baird (Fulham)----------Higginbotham (Stoke)-----Bridge(Man City) Walcott (Arsenal)------------Quashie (West Ham)----------- Bale (Tottenham)-------- Surman (Wolves) -----------------Jones (Sunderland)--------------Crouch (Spurs)------------------------
  20. Give the lad a break. He has had a hard time with injuries. He is a young professional football player trying to find his level. He is not a fraud like Ali Dai and should not be treated as one. Good luck to him. I hope he has a successful loan period which leads to a revival of his career either at Saints or elsewhere. Some supporters are too quick to criticise.
  21. Signed a 3 year deal with us today
  22. Can we now move this to the lounge or other sports rather than soil our main Saints board?
  23. New owner Ali Al Faraj has spoken for the first time since taking over Pompey and outlined that stability is the key for the Premier League club. He said: "Our aim is to put a stable foundation in place in all aspects of the business, beginning with the financial restructuring of the club. "Once this is in place we can assess our approach to building a much-needed new training ground and redeveloping Fratton Park. "In order to do this we need the full co-operation and understanding of various parties while we come to terms with the ongoing issues of the club's business and financial commitments. "We are appointing a professional team to review all aspects of the club, working alongside chief executive officer Peter Storrie. There will also be a restructuring of the board. "It is well-documented that we initially wanted to take over the running of the club two months ago. This would have enabled us to capitalise on the summer transfer window and help provide finance to strengthen the squad. Unfortunately we were unable to do so and that was a wasted opportunity. "However, the players brought in at the eleventh hour, along with those already at the club, have been tremendous and shown a great spirit and unity. And that is great credit to them and Paul Hart and his coaching team. "We have a very loyal fan base who have shown remarkable support. It is important for us to work with them and keep them aware of our plans. "Both the community and council have a major role to play in the future of the club and we look forward to discussions with them on a number of issues to enhance Portsmouth Football Club."
  24. Have to agree there. I think Pompey may just have arrested their decline into oblivion. Whether they can survive in the Premiership this season is still up for debate. No is my answer.
  25. Avrim Grant is now DOF
