I was told from reliable sources months ago that Van Der Waals recommended Forecast to Lowe who took everything he had to say as gospel. Don't know about Pulis but on the face of it we released a player on about £10,000 a week, who has hardly played since due to injuries with one on peanuts who equally has not played this time due to apparent lack of ability. Economics may have come into play.

Crouch can be blamed for many things connected with SFC. He can also be praised for other. I consider Crouch comes out neutral in the history of SFC blame. I spoke to Mike Richards a few weeks back. He believes Crouch money following Administration probably saved us from liquidation. If he is saying that it is probably close to the truth.
-
Yep certainly was. Helped put us into Administration.

Should we change the stand names at St. Marys
Weston Saint replied to dickyhale's topic in The Saints
What about Terry Paine 811 appearances, Mick Channon 602 appearances Nick Holmes 535 appearences or Ron Davies 153 goals in 277 appearances etc. etc. etc. Leave the stands as they are. Avoids leaving anyone out. -
Now confirmed as a fracture. Lumb has cheered me up though with a century.
-
You are wrong with your implied illness. How do I continually defend him? I do not agree with much of what he says and he accepts that. He has never prevoked or insulted me!

With the greatest of respect Daren, earlier on the thread you said no one knew the facts other than MLT and you were critical of 19C for making judgements. So why are you making judgements? I have no need or wish to get into any argument with you and I appreciate you have no time for 19C but I just thought I would point it out. For the record I do not agree with 19C views regarding MLT parading at the first home game.

Yep, good friend of mine. Known to Pancake, GM, Lindford Saint, NSS, Frank's Cousin and a few more who post on here.

Carberry taken to hospital with a suspected fractured left ring finger. If confirmed it will likely mean the end of the season for him! Shame as he is in such good form.

We need to get back to winning ways in this difficult fixture starting on Wednesday. Chris Tremlett has been dropped with Cork coming back in. Team from: Carberry, Adams, Lumb, Vince, Dawson, Ervine, Mascarenhas, Burrows, Cork, Griffiths, Tahir, Tomlinson. I suspect it will be between Griffiths and Tomlinson. We need them both to give us good balance but with Pothas still injured the batting will likely be strengthened. I understand that Tahir is going to have a session with Shane Warne next week. Good to see Warney is keeping in touch.

Story about a Sat Nav. Last week we went by minibus to Basingstoke for Hants v Yorkshire. Off Junction 6 as indicated then 1st exit at roundabout fine and then first exit at next but our driver missed it and so went off at the second. No problem TomTom imediately recalculated. Next left took us down a one way slip road. Turn right......low bridge and we were too high. Left was 1 way and against us. So we slowly turned left only to arrive at another low bridge again we were too high! Cyclist came along frantically waving we were going the wrong way. We turned and he showed us a way over a pavement squeezing between bollards to make our embarrasing escape. TomTom rerouted again and we reached our destination without further problems! I have my own TomTom and find it great. Heard good reports about the Garmin as well. Just bought a new car with a Radio Navigation System Columbus fitted. Cost is £1500 plus vat!!!

Agree, AP is the better choice. The No 1 might have a future role once he has rested
-
Personally, I thought at the time he was hard done by with England and should have been an automatic choice. However I have read and heard of reasons why he was not picked and can understand the thought process. Do I still think he has hard done by now over his lack of England exposure? Most certainly. I made the post as DarenW and Nineteen Canteen were again at odds. Daren has said MLT was as enigma and seems to be agreeing with most of what I said. Nineteen Canteen agrees with most as well. The point? They both have fairly similar views of MLT with obvious minor differences. Just do not read the rants. Look at the substance, ignore their prejudices and they have a lot of common views as Saints Supporters.
-
No football in general and in the wider sporting world. Hopefully my comments in my previous post will be agreeable to DarenW and Nineteen Canteen.

Matt LeTissier - flawed football genius. I am sure he had ambition but lacked the will to realise that ambition - for that Saints supporters have to be grateful. Lazy and his 90 minute contribution to team play was lacking but when he got the ball (he never semed to chase for it) his pinpoint pass or his goals more than made up for it for Saints supporters. A delight on the eye when he had the ball but he never put in enough team effort to get a regular run out for England more is the pity and a loss to the wider supporter base in this county. His loyalty to Saints should never be forgotten. His debacle with Pinnicle nearly damaged his reputation and left some of us wondering about his judgement but he can be forgiven now an owner has been found. But it could have been tears all round. His career is not in the first league of sporting greats but he is certainly in the top half of the second league in my opinion.

Seperate thread now created Neil

From NSS (a friend and a poster who cannot start his own threads.) Aftenoon my Stripey friends. Apologies for dropping this into the thread but I can't start my own. Of course, if anyone would care to create a new thread for it then I'd be most grateful. I have some places left for our charity golf day if anyone is interested, or if you know anyone who plays then please forward info below. Cheers! Ryder Cup-style Charity Golf DayIn aid of the Smile4Rich Appeal for the Wessex Neurological Centre Quindell Club - Wednesday 9th September 2009 Teams captained by Saints and Pompey Legends - Matt Le Tissier & Guy Whittingham Based on Ryder Cup golf, but played over 27 holes in a single day, comprising 9 holes of 4-balls and 18 holes of singles, this format has been hugely popular with those who’ve played in previous years, and has produced nail-biting finishes, last year requiring a sudden-death play-off to split the teams (which saw MLT slicing his tee-shot into the car park, resulting in a Pompey win ). Aside from the honour for the winning team of lifting the ‘Smile4Rich Trophy’, there’ll be a medal for every participant, plus trophies and some great prizes to be won in our ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest-the-Pin’ competitions, and a brand new car worth £10,000 for a hole-in-one! This is a really enjoyable format (not your average charity golf day), and at a cost of just £100 per pair of players (including coffee/tea & bacon roll on arrival, and a ‘Brunch’ breakfast after the first 9 holes) it represents fantastic value too. For full details and an entry form, please email info@smile4rich.co.uk or click the following link http://www.smile4rich.co.uk/fundraising/event-detail-28 but you'll have to be quick as places are limited and entries must be submitted by the end of August. There are also some great sponsorship opportunities available from just £75!

Actually I spotted tommac the day he first posted. I even posted "is that you Tom?" but then edited his name out. His early phrases was exactly the same as he had commented direct to someone I know before he registed. I never supported him. I knew his background. As for Wilde..... I was not going to be part of a political tool so took the SOS involvement no further. Anyway, I am not going to rake over this as it is past.

Not me. I listened to what Guided Missile had to say. He has always been pretty much on the ball with such matters

I have to say I agree with the original post. However I do not see MLT as tarnished or that he should not have attended the first match. I am sure our new owner would have been delighted with the fan reaction. However, I had doubts about MLT as Chairman without experience to hold that position. It would have always been the "money men" and Lynam who would have been making all the decisions so I am on the side of those who say he was manipulated and to some extent, in my opinion, shafted by a good friend who himself may have been shafted by the "money men" but should have known better.
-
Absolutely agree.
-
Not suprised by this. Michael Lumb was close and in the original 30 but I did not expect him to get in barring injuries. Dimi is not showing enough form this season to justify inclusion

He has played 8 Test matches for Sri Lanka taking 39 wickets with best innings figures of 6-117, and best match figures of 10-209. Mendis has also played 30 ODI’s taking 66 wickets with best figures of 6-13 coming against India in the Asia Cup. His 17 wickets in the tournament earned him the Man-of-the-Series award. It is going to be a long hard winter.

Having read the whole article in the Echo I do not see a problem with this. At present Pardew identifies what he wants and goes to Cortese who, if he is happy, negotiates. All that is happening is that Cortese is giving that part of the job to a Sporting Director in due course. So no change for Pardew, just a different face with a bit more football knowledge and experience.
