  1. Cyprus? Onwards or back to blighty soon?
  2. Could not see Andrew Davies in the Stoke squad or I would have put him in at centre back. Lowe did well to get our money back on him. A good player but always injured.
  3. Thought about Beattie but we already have Jones & Crouch who I would put ahead of him. Likewise Kevin Davies. We had Davenport on loan for a while and he could go into the central back. Better now that he was then but I have tried to limit it to players with Saints on full contracts.
  4. Have to admit I think my team would struggle to stay out of the bottom three.
  5. -----------------------------Taylor (Birmingham)-------------------------------- Delap (Stoke) -----------Baird (Fulham)----------Higginbotham (Stoke)-----Bridge(Man City) Walcott (Arsenal)------------Quashie (West Ham)----------- Bale (Tottenham)-------- Surman (Wolves) -----------------Jones (Sunderland)--------------Crouch (Spurs)------------------------
  6. Give the lad a break. He has had a hard time with injuries. He is a young professional football player trying to find his level. He is not a fraud like Ali Dai and should not be treated as one. Good luck to him. I hope he has a successful loan period which leads to a revival of his career either at Saints or elsewhere. Some supporters are too quick to criticise.
  7. Signed a 3 year deal with us today
  8. Can we now move this to the lounge or other sports rather than soil our main Saints board?
  9. New owner Ali Al Faraj has spoken for the first time since taking over Pompey and outlined that stability is the key for the Premier League club. He said: "Our aim is to put a stable foundation in place in all aspects of the business, beginning with the financial restructuring of the club. "Once this is in place we can assess our approach to building a much-needed new training ground and redeveloping Fratton Park. "In order to do this we need the full co-operation and understanding of various parties while we come to terms with the ongoing issues of the club's business and financial commitments. "We are appointing a professional team to review all aspects of the club, working alongside chief executive officer Peter Storrie. There will also be a restructuring of the board. "It is well-documented that we initially wanted to take over the running of the club two months ago. This would have enabled us to capitalise on the summer transfer window and help provide finance to strengthen the squad. Unfortunately we were unable to do so and that was a wasted opportunity. "However, the players brought in at the eleventh hour, along with those already at the club, have been tremendous and shown a great spirit and unity. And that is great credit to them and Paul Hart and his coaching team. "We have a very loyal fan base who have shown remarkable support. It is important for us to work with them and keep them aware of our plans. "Both the community and council have a major role to play in the future of the club and we look forward to discussions with them on a number of issues to enhance Portsmouth Football Club."
  10. Have to agree there. I think Pompey may just have arrested their decline into oblivion. Whether they can survive in the Premiership this season is still up for debate. No is my answer.
  11. Avrim Grant is now DOF
  12. 4th & 3rd
  13. Saints boss Alan Pardew has played down Antonio’s arrival, saying that he is coming to St Mary’s for them to have a look at rather than expected to be an immediate first team player. He said: “I just thought it was a good opportunity because he wasn’t in the frame at Reading. “It’s just a month to see how we all get on. “There is no big fanfare about him and the fans shouldn’t expect too much and we’ll just see how we get on.”
  14. Stop being a prat Hypo, you are better than that.
  15. Friend of mine who usually gets good info told me on Saturday that the rumour was David Connolly was training with the team. Have been unable to verify as yet. He is unattached at present.
  16. Yes, think I only miss one more this season on Tuesday 1st Dec Wycombe Wanderers. Eric might try to come along as well. He will let us know nearer the event.
  17. Duncan cannot make it Dave but Andy and Colin will be joining us as usual. Have not heard from Rob yet.
  18. I agree with the comment "ok to good" when talking about our overall 90 minutes play. Result fantastic yes but one swallow does not make a summer. We need to sustain a decent run of results not go for the knee jerk reaction of manny on here over the years.
  19. Concourse serves blocks 5 & 6 as well. You would have to have an internal re build. Why should block 5 (centre) have to put up with away fans next to them!
  20. For me 4 4 2 ----------------------Davis-------------------- Murty-----Jaidi------Trotman (Thomas when Trotman returns)-----Harding Wiago---------Hammond-------------Schneiderlin---------Holmes ------------------Lambert-------Lallana--------------------- Any views?
  21. Think it depends on whether he is able to track back as well. Why is Pardew holding him back? Perhaps he has seen a weakness?
  22. A good win was what we needed and a good win is what we got. For the first 10 minutes Gillingham outplayed us and although we then started to kick into gear we were not as good as on Tuesday (for the first 60 minutes of that game) Cannot complain about scoring four and all from open play. Wiago will need more time to understand and appreciate English football style and pace but he gives us more width on the right. Now all we need is the same on the left. Mellis showed signs of the good player he can be. He needs to sustain it for more of the game though. Lallana had a busy game and could not fault his skill and the way he took his goals. Lambert was my man of the match. He is strong, holds the ball up, is intelligent with his reading of the game and his passes. What is more, given the support he had yesterday he can & will score goals for fun. What a gem of a buy he is. No player for Saints let us down. Bit concerned that their goal was due to very poor, slow defending and if Davis had not been so far off his line he might have saved it but none the less it was a fine strike by Rooney. If we are going to go on a sustained run we badly need to sort out the wide left position. Not only does the lack of a good player there (or anyone there at all!!!!) cut down our options but it also exposes Harding. Can Holmes do that job?
  23. Stop acting like one then. I am confident it is not difficult.
  24. Wes, you suprise me by the highlighted statement
  25. Andy Oldknow regularly reads this forum to keep up to date with what this part of the fan base thinks.
