Shame on you Thanks to DD getting extra tickets (I thought I was going to be away) I was able to go. Enjoyed the game. Enjoyed another win. Enjoyed winning in front of the Sky cameras. Enjoyed our front play, the way our midfield defended when we did not have the ball but moved forward when we did and a pretty decent display at the back. I wonder if many realise that Bitterne, Sholing, Woolston, Weston, Peartree, Bassett and Swaythling only became part of Southampton in 1920, Millbrook, Redbridge, Harefield and part of Thornhill in 1954.

It appears from what I have been told that the problem with Matt Paterson is that he is a shy quiet lad who presently lacks confidence. If the rumour that he has turned down a spell at Torquay is correct it might be because he does not have the confidence to go elsewhere. The lad needs to get games and goals so that his confidence improves and his reported talent can shine through. He is not good enough for the first team yet. When he has played he has looked like a fish out of water. He needs to be managed well. Pardew will be able to do that, I am sure, but a spell on loan to a lower division club would seem to be the best approach becasue he now needs games and goals.
