  1. Small margins, but we looked organised, hit them on the counter and did a job on them. Solid all round performance which shows how far we've come in recent weeks. MOTM Peretz with Flynn a close second with a goal and no booking. P.S. Have to say how much I enjoy not having VAR and a goal is a goal.
  2. Such a joy being able to enjoy the last half hour with no real pressure, very unSaintsy and long may it continue! Special mention to Harwood-Bellis who was class. Even when he made the mistake he got back quickly to redeem it - he just looks half a yard quicker in recent weeks, not sure if he was carrying an injury or short of confidence but that was the player from our promotion season. He makes Jack look better as well. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to send Bree on loan?!
  3. Another terrible cameo - from memory he lost the ball every time it went to him. His confidence looks absolutely shot to pieces and he needs a change and probably a run with the U21s in the medium term. Shame, as on his day he can finish and is quick, but it hasn't been that day for a long time now.
  4. Too soon, feels like yesterday 😂 What a feeling - we had a few last minute winners when in the Champ last time but this was another level. What a day to be a Saints fan after all the recent misery. Football, bloody hell.
  5. What a comeback, unbelievable and what a finish to win it, world class from Charles and the one from Jack wasn't half bad either!! Sometimes, just sometimes, we get to have nice things. Who said we were shit in the second half?! 😂
  6. Not a great game from either side, but a great moment to win it from the big lad. I thought Wellington was outstanding and the back four looked solid, restricting Watford to very little. Thought Fellows and Sceinza lost their way a little today which is usually our point of difference and Stewart really should have buried that chance. If that's all it takes to be 8th, shows what a poor league it is and how poor we've been. As they say, it's the hope that kills you! Well done Tonda for slowly turning it round in the last few games.
  7. If you think of him as Downs' replacement, then what's not to like as it's hard to be worse. If you want peak Armstrong replacement, then less so. Maybe he'll be the non-scoring Heskey that makes the rest of the team tick...
  8. Why can't we keep hold of the ball rather than booting it away so many times? I feel like going down to training with my set of cones to set up some triangles. Pass, move into space, receive it back, repeat and watch the pub team dive in to open up the space they vacate. Such a winnable game against a terrible team, but says a lot that we only got a draw out of that.
  9. Can't believe it's the same player as the Championship promo season who was at the heart of the midfield and who we really missed when he wasn't available. Maybe it's the health issues affecting his energy levels, but given he was close to a move back to Ipswich suspect it's more that he's going through the motions (maybe in all senses...).
  10. In contrast, I'm very sure I know when we'll next go 8 games without a win!
  11. Another nothing performance against a very beatable team. Two shocking goals against and a half-arsed attack. It genuinely baffles me how the same set of players can be good for one month and then revert to not being bothered.
  12. Thought he did OK to be honest. Some decent saves for someone who hasn't played in a long time and you could see he was trying to control his area and to be vocal. Yes, the rush goalie was a bit bonkers but nothing his mentor Manuel Neuer doesn't do which I suspect is where he got that from! I'll concede he could have done better for the second goal, but am hoping he will come good with games.
  13. Happy days! Some shaky moments in that second half but we could have had another 3 easily, some huge chances to extend our lead. 5 out of 6 is great form and two high quality finishes today. Scienza is different class, really making us tick. Archer looked up for it which is good to see as these tactics suit him much better, shame about the miss. Also good to see THB back to somewhere near his best.

I'm in two minds about him. If our players could finish he'd be on quite a few assists by now as I think he's got a good eye for a pass. Just need to play him in the right position in a well organised line-up with some decent finishers - I think I see the flaw in my plan...
  15. The cynic in me thinks you drop Martin's name into the frame through 'insiders', mention that Eckert also an option and then when you appoint someone that you've never heard of but you believe will be yet another coaching masterstroke the fans will go, well, at least it's not one of them... (edit - couldn't remember how to spell Eckert as had never heard of him...)
  16. Was not expecting that but makes sense with Charles' injury and the general lack of leadership. I'm not expecting much at 34 and not having played all season and with our luck fear he'll be out for 6 months in his first game back, but it's the hope that kills you!
  17. I assumed the early season open goal misses were an aberration, but last night was the single worst performance I can remember of any player - no discernible effort, horrific touch, no ability on the ball, no physical presence and Still would have been well within his rights to sub him for Stewart who must be feeling aggrieved to be below him in the pecking order. If he's even in the squad on Saturday it will be a scandal. Badly needs to go out on loan to learn how to play football. If I'm feeling charitable, I'd say it was a rabbit in the headlights moment at a big stadium and that there's something there from the pre-season goal, but he's looked awful all season. At least Mara had a first touch and a pass on him.
  18. Is he the love child of Ronnie Edwards and Ross Stewart?
  19. Really looking forward to tonight and the chance to win our first silverware in a while with the Hampton Cup which I’m pretty sure comes with a Champions League spot 🏆
  20. Terms agreed with West Ham now https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3074jv0qq3o
  21. Late back due to the U21 tournament I believe
  22. *Trigger warning alert* I wouldn't necessarilly describe it as irrational but for the low talent/effort ratio Ainsley Maitland‑Niles takes some beating for me
  23. And not scoring them, there's that as well! I do know what you mean though, but our standards are so low we look good if we don't concede for 10 minutes. If Sugawara isn't pulled at half-time, I'm heading down there myself to do it, absolutely filthy performance.
  24. Absolute karma win after Ipswich's late goals against us. Thought it was very even and for once Saints were clinical which ultimately was the difference. If we can tighten that gap in the middle of the defence that Ipswich could drive a tractor through, then we look OK and at times we harried them really well (at times not). Not sure what ABK has to do to get a game as his pace and strength would really help. MOTM was Fernandes - he was immense in the press and really took the pressure off at the end bring the ball out. Derby County we're coming for you!!
  25. If I remember rightly we've battered Ipswich 3 games in a row and not won any of them (edit: the 1-1 felt like a loss at the time). Would love it if we have a shocker and they hit the bar 5 times and then they score a last minute own goal for a filthy 0-1 win to Saints #karma
