If we don't get a buyer soon they'll be 'donating' a lot more than a month's wages!

League deduct 10 Points - Will apply in L1 Next Season
jasonbenali replied to Danny's topic in The Saints
The question is will the club appeal as they said they would if memory serves? -
finally a realistic way to save our club or even better turn SMS into a tax haven, pay no tax if your business is registered in a corporate box...
-
Davis is destined for better things and will be snapped up in the fizzy or as Prem reserve or better and deservedly so. The rest of that team are shocking already, one of the worst teams in the history of SFC and would struggle to get out of League 1. You can make a case for Patterson and Mills improving and maybe even McG doing the business if he gets his head right but that's not enough to build a team round. To end on a positive note, Gobern I do have faith in and would much rather see him than Wotton to see out the season.
-
Why not do this as some kind of 20 year season ticket bond? You pay your £10k or whatever's realistic with several tiers and get an appropriate discount off season tickets for that time while the club gets the money now. Been done before hasn't it? Might mean more chipping in and guaranteed season ticket holders for years to come.

Even better spend 15 and see a game?

Real problem is that midfield diamond. It's just not working. Lallana/Drew out of form, McG out of position and Gillett trying to make up for their deficiencies. I'd consider moving Euell back but then there's no one to win the ball up front. Maybe time to give Gobern another run from the subs bench to shake things up or put Schneiderlin in there with a rocket up his proverbial. Unsung hero for me was Rudi who had a really tough job against Routledge who was quick, pacy and skillful. Meant he couldn't get forward but he shackled him well and sacrificed himself for the team. Defence and Gillett aside the rest of them were unforgivably lethargic, where was the closing down?

should we continue to play without wingers?
jasonbenali replied to sidthesquid's topic in The Saints
We may not have had 'natural' wingers, but the difference was that Surman and Lallana kept their discipline and kept wide giving us plenty of width. Did the trick, especially with the full backs overlapping in addition. Sounds like clear instructions from the manager for once... -
I don't know where that came from but, boy, do I want more of the same, as that's the first win I've seen all season! Credit to Wotte for reorganising the side to play effective football. Yes, we were direct in the first half but once the goals starting going in we also played some attractive football. Thought it was a massive gamble playing McG in central midfield but once he found his feet it paid off. I think it's also worth recognising that we started off very nervous and had the rub of the green with the ref and three superb strikes. It all fell into place for us today, but we still have a long way to go. At least it's a start. Saga man of the match for me, as good a CF performance as I've seen in a long time, helped by Euell doing the Heskey 'donkey' role. Fair play to the guy. I was critical of his appointment and still have my doubts, but he addressed our main failings this season. Picked experienced players, played 4-4-2 with decent width, clinical strikes and even his gamble with McGoldrick paid off. Also did his homework on Parkin by keeping a high line so he couldn't bully us in the box. Well done.

New striker - signed? According to Dutch Media
jasonbenali replied to ladysaint's topic in The Saints
Or actually it's been Wotte all along looking after transfers as a director of football in all but name... -
Started the match well in control, but as ever chance after chance gets fluffed and the opposition start slowly coming back into it. Donny's was a lucky goal and after that we didn't know how to deal with their packed defence. I think Jan just created a new football formation - 3-2-3-2, none of whom knew where they were supposed to be playing. What a shambles and yet we could have drawn had BWP not fluffed that header in injury time. I'm pretty sure that after a year of playing for us in the CCC he'd be a League One player! He should be on loan there now not making expensive mistakes for us.

More below. Apparently Roda are bringing in a Ghanian defender hence they can let Saejis go to us. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eredivisie.nl%2Fsubpage.aspx%3Fl1%3D1637%26subaction%3Ddetails%26newsid%3D320964%26from%3Dhomepage%26type%3D1&sl=nl&tl=en&history_state0=

There was a grey haired bloke who got a big laugh with some wise-crack before heading off but no idea if it was him and boot-related. Let the rumours continue especially as that's my three posts for the day!

Absolutely cruising for the first 20 minutes against a very nervy Forest side, they finally started playing and we had no answer to it. I don't mind being outplayed, I do mind players not trying and I don't recall ever seeing such a demoralised looking Saints side in that second half. Gasmi was an embarrasement, pure and simple. I don't know where we go from here. I dread to think what a Reading side looking for revenge will do to us at home. I was a few yards away. Looked to me like someone who'd enjoyed a little too much corporate hositality mouthing off and objecting to being told to calm down by a steward. Didn't help that he had plenty of equally 'merry' associates who joined in the argument resulting in a whole load of stewards and police being called and a rather pointless stand-off. They left shortly after the second goal. No real drama just a lot of standing and shouting really. Shame really as they were previously providing some atmosphere in the normally deadly quiet corporate section, including what I believe was a first ever 'we're the corporate over here' chant.

Wages. Revolutionary football. Not going to happen. Shame, would be good to be able to push Rudi forward while he's still with us...
-
"if we brought in a proper left back" There's your problem right there... It'll be Mills and possibly that Everton Molynew(?) who has yet to play a first team game. Rather that than the two youngsters going.

Great to see - any interesting gossip from this?

Player ratings below for those interested. Super Kelv man of the match again, but Perry came close. Alex Pearce had some second half! BWP was back to his worst unfortunately. http://www.southampton-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=419790

Just defrosting at home now - so, so cold! Not in the races in the first half and only kept in it by Super Kelvin Davis. Second half the switch made a big difference with Cork showing off his silky skills in midfield and Pearce adding vital bulk at the back. Still no cutting edge up front, but at least the defence looks marginally better. A good point on reflection, Charlton had the better chances.

Reading V Saints Post Match thoughts and reaction
jasonbenali replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
Let's go overboard - it's been a very long time and well worth getting carried away about. We will walk this league! Had a bet on 3 goals in this game, but certainly wasn't expecting Saints to provide 2 of them - get in! Text from friend there, simply said 'Wow'. Enough said, great result.
