Bring back Punch

You forgot match abandoned because of weather.

Standing is ok when tall people are at the back and the more vertically challenged towards the front, which can never happen. I'm ok Jack, I'm tall, but t'others aren't, and they don't get to see all the key moments of the game. But they do get the 'away' atmosphere. So long as the ground separates standing and sitting sections - and enforces no standing in the sitting areas, I've no objection and everyone is happy.

Is that confirmation that MoPo will be Spurs manager on Sunday?
-
... apparently. http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2013/dec/u18s-squad-named-for-january-training-camp-181213

So long as the players fully understand how exigent the situation is.

Playing devils advocate, if our current form continues (hopefully very unlikely) might we not be needing to field these players we now (apparently) scorn in a lower division? Do we have a plan B? Should we have a plan B? For my part, I am forever grateful to every one whose efforts were integral to our successive promotions.

Not true. Chambers and Cork have not let us down. -
Has Lee been tried lately?

A team of Academy Products - the Rupert Lowe dream...
eelpie replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Ted Bates founded our youth programme with talents like Paine and Syddenham, and created the Southampton Way of playing attractive football. Selling on our best players like Shearer, Channon etc kept the club solvent and able to compete. (The capacity of the Dell with seats was only around 17,000) Frugal Rupert Lowe built St Mary's stadium (capacity c 33,00), and founded the current youth Academy that signed Walcott, Bale etc, but he and successive directors and managers could not hold on to the best. We seemed doomed to always be a supplier club. Backed by Marcus Liebherr and the Liebherr Estate the ambitious Nicola Cortese has extended facilities at the Academy, has further schooled very skilfull young players through to the first team, playing attractive, enviable football, and so far he is holding on to them. By the end of next season we need to acquire trophies if we are to be able to fulfill the dream of holding on to our young stars and field a team fielding a majority of home grown players. No mean challenge. (Since perhaps a top 4 place seems unlikely now, a serious challenge for the FA Cup should imo be a priority) Steady progress, year by year, despite the painful times. That is The Southampton Way. -
Savage suggests Moyes should buy a load of Southampton players.....

This season we are still building our squad. Next year will be our trophy season. -
I dunno. How with our current injuries do we now compare to Norwich? Can our patched up defence do better, I mean least worse, than them?

There was a great chant for Artur at the very beginning of Sunday's match at Chelsea. "There's only one Artur Boric" He clearly appreciated it and responded positively making some great saves. So tonight before the kick off: "There's only one Gazzaniga!" It will boost his confidence to know that we are with him in this big match for him and Saints. That's the first big part we supporters can play in the game.
-
Oops, my title typo. Correct if you like, mods, though Ossie was another Saints God imo.
-
It was good on Sunday to see that Chelsea have honoured our great Saints footballer Peter Osgood, and member of the 1976 F A Cup winning team, with a statue. He was quite character and a real pleasure to watch on the pitch. Anyone got any Ossie stories or memories?

We were lucky that our early goal came from a careless backpass, and Jay certainly took advantage well. But the nub is that we are not scoring enough goals despite our forward attacking game. Why?

Don't forget the wind!

Good tune, but it would have made more sense at Arse to have sang "You signed Wenger, we signed Pochettino" -and so on, whoever the opposing manager is. Especially since clubs now envy us having MoPo as our manager.
-
He's not a good ref, but the penalty was justified - it was a clear shirt tug.

Swearing is normal. But swearing in every sentence demeans the swearer.
-
A word for Jay. Of the England trio, he played really well -had something to prove.
-
Artur could of course have kicked the ball over the line -any white line away from the goalmouth would have done, instead of trying to turn Giroud. Several times also, not only this match, he casually passes dangerously in front of advancing forwards. Silly schoolboy errors in contrast to his not infrequent world class saves. I hope Poch puts him in detention.
