Thedelldays Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 I now do..for all the years of ruperts 'prudency' we are still set to follow leeds' decline.. I much rather (now we are on the brink) have tried and signed some real quality players back in the prem rather than everything on a shoe-string....did not do us much good did it.. oh, who is STILL happy not to be in the prem who is happy we are in ADMNIN (and royally fooked) as this is what you wanted
1976_Child Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 The Prem was over rated. Much better being in League 1 with -25 points and/or out of business completely.
the stain Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Didn't Crouch try to 'do a Leeds'? It wasn't prudency that took us into admin.
bungle Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 alpine is still delighted at our current situation and is having party as we speak. In answer to your first question - no, we should have stuck with prudency, we are fooked because of spending lots of money we never had when Wilde was 'ere. Big_Bald_Si Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Didn't Crouch try to 'do a Leeds'? It wasn't prudency that took us into admin. Absolutely right. It was Lowe's lack of a "plan B" for if we ever got relegated which essentially caused all of this. Plan was fine whilst we were in the Premiership, but remove the £50 million pa turnover and............. We know the rest
saintstr1 Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Didn't Crouch try to 'do a Leeds'? It wasn't prudency that took us into admin. What a load of B'll@cks , It wasn't Crouch who spent all the money, Get your facts right.
the stain Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 What a load of B'll@cks , It wasn't Crouch who spent all the money, Get your facts right. Not meaning to speak ********, it was a question (hence the question mark). Who did massively over-spend on players and wages? I may be conflating Wilde and Crouch inappropriately. The second part of my post stands anyway; it wasn't prudency that took us into admin, as that would be... imprudent.

Aye, real football - none of this namby pampy oncy poncy rolly poley poofy stuff that goes on in the Premiership. It's my arse on the line and I don't want a c*ck-up. The9 Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Shame we couldn't decide if we were bouncing back or cutting costs in 2005/6 really...

Glasgow_Saint Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Didn’t we do the opposite of leeds? Sell loads of players for big money and then never account for any of it. How the fook are we in admin anyway – the sales of Beattie, Crouch, Bale, Walcott ect ect. We should have loads of money.
Give it to Ron Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 I'll bet Rupert does....if we had found the money WGS wanted and not gone on to bulk up the squad with 41 players we just may of sustained our Prem status. Constantly going for the cheap option coupled with some shocking managerial choices all lumbering us with cr8p like Darren Powell...who gave him an extension saw us fall to where we are. We need some bouncbackability and quick.
Colinjb Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 If course I wish we had. If only we had signed Saha and Malbranque, if only WGS could have excercised his muscles in the transfer market a bit more. #sigh# So much wasted potential.

bpsaint Posted 25 June, 2009 Share Posted 25 June, 2009 Anyone remember that "Lets have a whip around" chant when we played them at SMS a few years ago? Who'd have thought it'd end up like this.
