The changing tide of Pinnacle...

I saw the Sky interview last night with Michael Fialka and I have arrived at two conclusions. I thought I'd sleep on them to give myself a fresh perspective this morning.

My conclusion, I believe Michael Fialka was either thrust into the limelight to act as a face instead of the real money man (in an ill-thought out and naive attempt to appease the fans) or these issues with the Football League have actually forced the real money man to back out (as initially reported on Sky last Friday) and Pinnacle have been stalling this week to bring in new investment on top of the original management strategy (possibly from one of the backers that originally backed out). After all, the consortium was one "individual". Now Lynam refers to one of "the gentlemen putting his hand in his pocket". Something decidedly fishy going on and I have now changed my view on Pinnacle and this whole affair.

One final point, as has been mentioned, Mark Fry has some serious questions to answer and he now needs to step up and address the public. He may have made some big mistakes, he may have been professional, then found wanting or let down by creditors as a result of the Football League's actions. Regardless, we need to know the situation and whether the club will go into liquidation if no offer is completed by next week.

To be frank, I am virtually past caring anymore. What a farce. Are we not due or allowed good fortune in the city of Southampton? It is as though our football club is cursed or a magnet for t*ssers. I'm sorry Matt Le Tiss got dragged into all this by surreptitious businessmen. I apologise to Duncan and those I criticised for doubting Pinnacle and the bid (and the administrator). I thought you were jumping the gun and being unfair to Pinnacle and Tony Lynam. I now believe we have been kept in the dark and there has not been as much transparency as Tony purports to purvey.

Gordon, I started to read the thread and thought charming after all the attacks I had, but if your apology is aimed at posters like me I appreciate it a great deal and it takes a big man/woman to own up to the fact on here.Thanks.

Im waiting for StMarco to do the same after his bravado last week.

HIndsight is a wonderful thing,... but even I am starting to think maybe teh warning sighns were always there - An example is the way MLT went so quickly from being invited to support the bid to new chairman - wuithout experience necesssary to drive through a strategy that will work for a club in our situation... It woudl be great to have him actively involved at teh club again, but as Chairman? Seems to me a blatent crowd pleaser by pinnacle?

I anm desperate to try and avoid cynicism this time around, but it all juts smacks of teh same again... so bring on the Swiss?

Another hint may well have been the stalling over the -10 point appeal - the whole thing was contradictory - MLT stated publically that if teh FL did not revooke their deciosn they would simply get on with it - It was extremely naive to think the FA would change their mind so why not sign up...? Because I suspect it was a stalling tactic as the money was simply there? Does this mean if Crouch paid the deposit, he has been dumped again... is bad luck or naivety?

If true that leon stumped up up to £500K for the exclusivity period, he may have been taken for a ride.

Perhaps it was related to promising him a seat on the board - but seems to be dodgy that Pinnacle backers were unable to stump up the cash, especially if they are worth "hundreds of millions" or whatever.

I think many comments were unfair and overly harsh (not that I can speak by my reactionary nature! ;o) but I am now in quandary and, as Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction would say, in a "transitional period" so I don't want to lambast anyone today!

I just wish something positive will happen and football matters can be straight forward and simple. Fat chance.

Mole, it's a new thread. Deal with it! You starting to sound a lot like Stanley. Riposte a plenty and a cynical, misreable Alpine esque nature. It's only football. Chin up!

I read virtually past caring as being the exact opposite. I feel like I am past caring but of course we will never get to that point in reality. Like you Gordon I watched and re watched the SSN interview last night and the conclusion was inescapable.

I agree with everything you say and unless Fry has been duped by the exit of the real money man how could this have passed due diligence and why has MLT been so quiet? I am sorry he has been dragged into this mess but that does not exonerate him from providing an explanation at least from his own perspective.

Pancake, not sure if I've asked you this before but is your Avatar a Planet of the Apes homage or, like me, you're a big fan of the popular Japanese underground and exclusively rare clothing label, BAPE?

I love the Bape brand (Bathing Ape). Even wore it before the likes of Beckham and co jumped on the bandwagon. So there!

Or, am I giving you too much kudos for your age?! I expect a smart arse reply!

I imagine Matt is desperately trying to find out what the hell is going on and establish whether he has been duped before he makes any further comment.
