Potential starting XI

So, assumming the takeover goes through OFFICIALLY tomorrow, what kind of a team do you think we'll have come August 8th? With new owners, hopefully we'll be in a position to offer some of our current out-of-contract players new deals, as well as bringing in a few new faces. Potentially, we could still have a half decent side for League One. It could look something like the following:

--------------- Davis --------------

Murty ---- Perry ---- Saeijs ---- Mills

Lallana -- Gillett -- Schneiderlin -- Holmes

-------- John --- Saganowski -------

This side doesn't even include the likes of Lloyd James, Jake Thomson, Jason Euell, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Paul Wotton and Grezgorz Rasiak! If these new owners come in and 'hit the ground running' as they say, we could still salvage our pre-season and get a decent side together.

Has BWP not ****ed off yet ??

Not officially. Paul Sturrock recently refused to comment on speculation that he was interested in signing him though. I've been told that Jason Euell has held talks with Plymouth too.

Well in League 1 terms that's not a bad side at all but we could do with someone in the mould of Terry Hurlock to get stuck in ! Midfield looks a bit lightweight for League One.

If that team rolls up against Millwall I'll be very happy (but can't see it myself)

Fair points. Could always put Lloyd James in midfield alongside Gillett, or add Wotton instead. Personally, I think we need some wide players. Whilst I rate Thomson and Holmes, we don't really have any other options.

hasn't John gone to Palace?

Think both forwards will be replaced.

I see that Warnock has been quoted as saying he'd like to have him at Palace for a trial. Haven't heard any more than that though.

Lallana too undisciplined to play on the left wing - perhaps james could slot in there; need more steel in midfield; could we play thomas, perry and saejis together? think saejis could fill that midfield holding role christian dailly did quite well for us.

I disagree with almost everything in your post, but my god it's good to be debating football related issues again! :p

Midfield looks a bit weak to me.

Lallana is a supporting striker if anything. Wouldn't play him on the wing because he couldn't cross a road.

Gillett is like a terrier, but pretty short and his passing lets him down. No goals yet either.

Schneiderlin contributes nothing to attacking or defensive play.

Holmes is always injured, lacks pace and doesn't track back. WOuld be suicide playing him ahead of Mills.

Me, I'd go with:

Davis

Murty Thomas Size Fish

James Gillett **** ****

Lallana

Rasiak

We desperately need some decent additions to all areas of midfield IMO.

I don't think it'll look anything like that.

A new manager will buy in three or four new players and IMHO the side won't be recogniseable afterwards.
