Badger Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 I'm pleased that the Football League will be covered on BBC this season as it will spare us ITV's dreadful 'The Chamionsh1t'. Does anybody know what format the BBC coverage will take, ie live matches / highlights screening ? I notice WBA V Newcastle is live on BBC1 on Saturday, and although that is a larger draw than L1 to many, I can't believe that at some stage Saints, as the 'fallen giants' ,would not be an attractive proposition to them. Can we expect fixtures to be transferred to Sunday or Monday night if selected for broadcast ?
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 The BBC have got the rights to screen 10 live Championship games next season - no League 1 or League 2 unfortunately ...but there's a 1 hour highlights show which follows MOTD every Saturday night which will cover all the leagues and goals. No more waking up early on a Sunday....
paulwantsapint Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 What you didnt like ITV sports coverage thought everyone loved watchin it for Saints 5 sec highlights that missed all the action Always seemed to only have 1 camera man per game & his job was to be 25 secs behind play
Mozz Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Quite an interesting blog on BBC site which explains what they're looking to do. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/sporteditors/2009/08/the_right_to_highlight.html Appears the intention is for a show after MOTD on Saturday night to feature every goal from the three leagues rather than an ITV style one featured game approach. 2-5 min highlight packages of each match also on BBC website 48 hours after the game. Think the live games are Championship only so not a factor to us.
SFC Forever Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 If you can get 2-5 minutes of every game it makes our tv package even more expensive.

The BBC's online service looks like it will be excellent. The only value in SaintsTV for me would be the audio commentary as I will be living outside the Solent area. Not sure if it's worth £40 or not....?
