Deanovski Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 A few fans seem to think we are lining him up to replace Greg, any truth in this rumor?
S-Clarke Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 First i've heard of it. I reckon he'll move on to a championship team. (although same could have been said of Lambert...) Where have you heard this btw? You're not making friends with the Gills fans now are you??
Deanovski Posted 13 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 August, 2009 No =( i think i have learnt my lesson even though i think they would be friendlier than charlton fans who wanna beat me up. Just afew different saints fans on other forums.

Iowsaintsfan Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 (edited) Id heard a rumour of this from my mate who supports Gillingham, though didnt think much of it! Ive seen Jackson play a few times when watching Gillingham last season and he is very over rated IMO although seems to find the net alot he seems to miss just as many! Ive seen Jackson play a few times when watching Gillingham last season and he is very over rated IMO although seems to find the net alot he seems to miss just as many! I often think this is the key to a good striker, even Wayne Rooney will miss quite a number. Getting into the position to score more often means that you will score more than another player who gets into position less frequently, stands to reason really! Therefore it will appear that they miss more - Ian Wright was another classic example, many fans felt he missed far too many but look at his stats and it will only tell you how many they scored not how many they missed. You mean he should have scored eight goals already this season in two matches rather than just four? You're right we don't want any player like that
Bailey Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Be surprised if we got Jackson but wouldn't completely rule it out. Our new owners have already pulled a rabbit out the hat by signing Lambert so who's to say that Jackson won't follow?

Rasiak-9- Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Jackson would compliment Lambert perfectly the little and large/fast and tough combo would be trouble for any defence.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 would be a brilliant acquisition if true, would have thought he'd have quite a high price tag though.

Smirking_Saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I would take jackson, but can't see it myself !! But then again i said that about lambert !!! Would also like Shelvey and Zak W from Millwall, Jaidi, and a nippy winger
Saints foreva Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 Seems Pardew only wants players we are linked with Lambert / Murty / Jackson oi Alan, apparently Parky wants to re-sign Izale and Martin Christensen to new contracts...... Where Charlton ever linked to any of them players? Murty was here before Pardew was appointed on a trial but I never heard about Charlton being after Lambert - They can't afford him.. surely? lee_saint Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 I see Charlton have said they are interested, am I right in thinking they have money problems at the moment? Surely Gills will look at what we paid for Lambert and shove a million price tag on the bloke?
eelpie Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 Cardiff, Derby, QPR and Sheffield United are all chasing Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson. (Daily Mirror) Why would anyone sign for Premiership wannabees when they could play for an upwardly mobile bottom-of-the table league 1 club? saint_stevo Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 Shelvey= 8m so smirker, stop even mentioning him. Jackson still unproven at this level, would look elsewhere IMO. Surely this should also be in the HCDAJFU thread

SaintDonkey Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 On -9! Quite literally the only way is up! (unless a side on zero points goes into administration ine the next 24 hours and then wins on Saturday while we lose, in which case we could drop a place tomorrow)

Saint 76er Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 I noticed somewhere on another thread that Pardew was being quoted as saying he could have signed a younger striker for the same money, but chose Lambert. At that price logic would suggest Jackson may have been the younger man in question, but Pards went with proven experience...

Saint 76er Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 I think he means Tom Craddock at Luton. Not at a million pounds I don't think he does! Jackson and Lambert were the two standout strikers in L1 and each would probably have cost about that figure to prise away from their clubs. Pardew may well have inquired about both and chosen Rickie...
