Rain

Wow, am I p!ssed off with this rain. I mean, let's qualify this: I'm not flooded out, although I can hear the odd naughty drip of water coming in, which is slightly disturbing. There's absolutely no danger of my house being flooded out, as I live near the top of a hill, and it all drains away faster than it can accumulate. And I think of those who live on floodplains and especially those who live in Cumbria, and I hope for them that it stops. But it is such a bloody awful faff. All day it has been p!ssing it down, then slightly easing off, then stopping for a few moments while the gutters and drains flush whatever is in them. Then again it comes, with another flurry of breeze introducing the next wet front. Occasionally, just to vary the weather a bit, we had thunder and lightning earlier, with the rain. I think we also had a little hail, for good measure.

I'm thankful I work indoors, is all I can say. Pity those working outside.

know how you feel. I had to go in and out of the office 4 times today, and each time it was about 5 minutes AFTER i had just dried off from the previous outing!

On the way home i nearly drowned in my car.

At the new ballsed up roundabout at David Lloyd - went all the way around, turned left at the turning to go down the road by Soton Rugby Club and at the hair pin bit at the bottom, there was about 100M of BL00DY high water. Couldn't turn around, 15 cars had followed me - had to go through, and i swear i could hear water coming in!

big power cut in shirley high street at about 7:45pm, including wetherspons and mcdonalds etc!

Yep! That was annoying. Was in Fitness First. Finally got on the machine I wanted and all the lights went out. To make things worse, the lockers there are electronic and all jammed shut leaving us all stood in the dark for an hour.

Could have been worse. Someone got stuck in the lift!!

That'll be the one I was talking about. Got home just after half 8. Thought it was a bit dark down our road as I pulled in, saw the street lights were out, and then realised the houses all looked a bit dark too!

Came back on just before half 9. Good job my lappy was fully charged!

We have had sh*t loads of faults over the past month, hour and a half is a pretty decent response to be honest.

Still, overtime overtime overtime :D

NB - Sorry for the power cuts

Having relocated from the Pennines to Brisbane, I can confirm that rain also happens here, big style. But the beauty of it is, is that it sheds down for about 4 hours, then stops, then it's nice and dry again!

The only problem is that we keep getting bills from our rented house to replace roof tiles. I have to say, if there's a better time to be in Australia than the UK, it's these 6 months until May. Then of course, you get a limp summer, with possibly one week of continuous sun, interrupted by 'variable' days/weeks.

Downside is, I can't see the Saints and look forward to freezing my nuts off at Elland Road!

Lol. I'll take your nuts to the grim freezing north that is Elland Road if you'll dangle mine in the Brisbane sunshine for me! ;)

This whole 'flood zone' thing REALLY annoys me. Half the insurance companies won't touch us as we're in a supposed 'high-flood-risk' zone yet the lady who has lived next door for over 80 years (yes, 80 years) says it has never even come close to flooding.

Makes my blood boil!

You need to live in sunny Manchester! And I'm not joking about today! :)

Well that makes a change, cos normally it's always raining in Manchester. I'm glad I live the other side of the pennines so most of the bad weather off the atlantic dissipates over the peaks before it reaches us.

It's not too pleasant, but on the other hand I've managed to have some excellent daytime sleeps this week because it's so dark and cool.

So every cloud, and all that (literally, in this case).

Clouds contain thunder (I am sure St L will disagree with this).
