S-Clarke Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1906184,00.html another honest assessment from Pards. We've had managers previously who would have overlooked the below-par performance. I agree with that he said...we have a real spirit at the moment, we just will not lie down and you can never rule us out until the final whistle, it never used to be like that! SoccerMom Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 "It was a funny game and a tough tactical game as we had to keep changing our shape just to try and eek something out of the game, but in the end we did and got through." I can hear the half-time talk now: "ARE YOU MICE, OR MEN????????" "eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek, Sir."

saintbletch Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 Have to say Pardew really calls games well. He's very good at assessing the games and incredibly honest too. Also glad to hear that Wotton for Morgan wasn't tactical as the game went away from us in the second half, although obviously concerned that we might be without MS for Leeds. saintbletch Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 Gutted for those people that left after 90 minutes!! Indeed. But many of them came back up from the concourse after the goal and stood on the steps and walkways in the Itchen North. Created a very good atmosphere for the penalties. I never forgave him, for leaving early that is, not for having bad feet. Mancsaint

Mind you, much as I rate Pardew, I think he casued the problem by his original shape, which was in effect 4-4-1-1 with Llallana playing in the middle behind Lambert. It didn't work. K. West End Saint Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 Give Pards his due he tells it like it is I thought 1st half we played well in places so did they & 1-1 was a fair reflection. Second half they battered us and nothing was going our way fair play to AP to keep trying to change it & fair play to the boys for not giving in. We have a team that has got some bottle & a manager who knows wgat he is doing happy days
forever a red and white Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 good points. We were throughly outclassed tonight, Norwich really did look a lot stornger than us and in al honesty we were very very lucky. Having said that I think the difference is that 6-12 months ago we would have lost that game, now we are getting a bit more luck, but thats the second time in a week, along with Tranmere first hallf we haven;t turned up

I can hear the half-time talk now: "ARE YOU MICE, OR MEN????????" "eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek, Sir." I think we lost it when Lallana went in field and Morgan got pushed wide left which created a massive gap down that side in front of Harding. Playing only Lambert up front released more players to get forward into the space and cause us problems. We switched it 4 times....Lallana, Schneideling, Hammond, Harding and for me that was our problem as we had looked pretty good up till then. Mellis started well but think the lack of games told in the end as he lost touch with the pace of the game. You reap what you sow...you cheating git Holt!!!! Yes he played well for the first 20 minutes, had a couple of good chances to score. Second one would have been goal of the season if he'd stuck it in. Give it to Ron Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 What did Holt do ? In injury time Antonio chased back near our corner flag and challenged Holt...he may have caught him slightly in the chest but Holt went down as though he was shot claiming he was elbowed in the face. Holt was off the pitch.....the ref gave US the free kick and we pumped it forward, Lambert won a great header and Papa scored. Had he not reacted like he did the ref wouldn't of given us the extra time to take the kick and Holt would of been defending. Poetic justice for a cheating git!
