While its great signing new players I'm getting a little concerned that we have too many players all of which are being paid week in and week out. If we do not get rid of some I think our wage bill will possibly put a halt on signing more. Irrespective of how much money Marcus has got the books will need balancing IMHO.

Pards has said we need to get rid of some so how many and who?

Imo we need to get rid of Forecast, Wotton, Pulis, Molyneux, Holmes, Saganowski, Gillett and Thomas. I can't see us getting a fee for any of them and we'd be lucky to find anyone in the football league to even pay wages for Pulis, Molyneux or Forecast.

Going to be stuck with the majority of them untill their contracts are up.

Pard's said that in his solent interview last night, saying that he is very worried that he's had no offers for some of our players and it could stop him bringing in new players.

I'd guess he's mainly talking about Saga...but probably Holmes, maybe Thomo now as well. Surley we can just offer a mutal termination to saga's contract? He's never ever going to play for us again and i doubt anyone in england will touch him.

Wotton has been good lately, I am not the only one who rates Holmes (although AP doesn't seem to), we all know Saga is class on his day, Gillet was one of our best players last season and Thomas seems to have found new ability from somewhere.

That said, I totally agree with you and sad as it is, we need to ship them off to new pastures.

Thats my worry - they bleed us and could become a stumbling block for further team investment. What would you say was the average wage for the players stated - 2k - 3k per week x 8? Thats 16k to 24k per week - which is at least 2 - 3 decent (prob more at this level) players.

Gillett should move to Doncaster, he's a good player just unfortunate with us.

Saga and Thomas are decent players but no one at this level or in the CCC are going to pay them the same amount we are so I doubt they're going to move.

The optimistic way to look at it is once they have gone we will have a lot of wages freed up ;)

I'm more worried that Pardew my unload the more promising youngsters (Paterson, Gobern, Mills etc) to free up wages.

Very true, I mean Thomas came in costing around a million pounds. He sits on the bench most weeks, and is probably on around 7k at week. For a bench warmer to be on that wage in league 1 is probably unheard of! - Thing is, he's never going to get offered that by another club, so he'll stay with us until his contract expires.

Saga's a massive drain on wages too, then we have the others who just take up minor wages like Pulis, Moly, Holmes etc.

Bit of a catch 22 there tho'. Do you off load your more experienced players who are on more money or the youngsters who are on less? If it were me I'd go for the former as you know there capabilities (or lack of) where as with the ones you have mentioned could develop further.
