Block 4 choral society

A while back I moved from lower Block 5 to the top of Block 37, for a higher view and in the hope that it would fill with singers and join the Northam to the Kingsland. This is not happening yet and I'm feeling isolated and bloody cold too. On Saturday I was looking somewhat enviously across to the fans in the upper Block 4 seats, basking in the winter sunshine and enjoying a good sing and what looked like a fair bit of banter with the stewards!!

Are there any posters on here who are part of that happy throng and would they mind if I joined them? Is there any room over there in the upper reaches or are all the seats taken?

there are spaces in block four but you will have to prove you can sing we dont just take any slackers you know.

Practise knees up mother brown and pompey going down with no money in the bank.

Once you have mastered these you are in.

you also have to stand all game whilst ****ed off your face

Its great.

My mate tried to get a half ST somewhere near me in Block 5.

We were told by the ticket office that the nearest available ST seat would be in Block 9!!!!

David Luker has confirmed this.

Although I have my doubts.

As an existing ST holder this would be a transfer which might be allowed, dunno really.

I shall make enquiries next time I'm down there.

There are 3 of us sat together in block 5, and we are prepared to move so our mate can sit with us.

I bet we're not offered seats in block 4!!!

It's true that David Luker has got some sort of problem with block 4.

First closing the rear 5 rows and moving season ticket holders, and then banning the sale of match day tickets in that area.

It's all to do with trying to get the riff-raff out of the block so when they sell corporate boxes seats behind we don't offend them.

It's a pity because the Itchen North is a cracking atmosphere at times and could be even better if they would re-open blocks 1,2 and 3.

The Itchen Northam corner was where most Lowe/Hone/Wilds biggest and most vocal critics sat - and it was a bit nearer the directors seats and hospitality boxes than they would have liked - so when the opportunity came to close it down they did!

Simples!

he's probably ****ed off that you're trying to create another standing area in the ground.

Please enlighten me - wtf were people singing knees up mother brown?

Stewards had to relent on Saturday. Usually they have the back rows netted off but they were open this time round - so basically anyone -right ticket or not- could move and find a place there.

We have been shunted around everywhere in the last couple of years as the club do not like the fact that there are 2 areas of the ground that try to help the atmosphere.

This is one of the reasons they want to move the away fans and get us to move to the northam.

It is true you could not buy half season tickets in block 4 as they did not want any more people in there standing and singing.

The corporate line has been rolled out many times but i am still waiting for someone to justify that as in the last few seasons those boxes have only been used for the glory games probably twice per season.

And yes i know standing is against ground regulations but the itchen has been singled out compared to the northam and away fans and i dont remember anyone being told to sit down at any of the concerts that have taken place.

I dont care what anyone says you cannot truly get behind your team and sing loudly as the club keep requesting us too if the whole ground is sat on their arse.

Just managed to get 4 tickets in block 4 row MM for the paint pot game.

Did it online.

Ron,

Do you know what, as you have started this thread I'll add a post I was thinking of but thought that it sounded a bit soft.

My mate and I have season tickets in row gg in block 4 and to be honest, most weeks we're both a total pain in the arse to the stewards cos we're ****ed and a little too punchy for our own good.

For the Stockport game, my buddy had to attend a bloody sushi course his other half booked him for a crimbo present.

I decided to take my 11 yr old daughter and her mate and I somewhat nervously headed for my usual area at the back of block 4.

Now, having the girls with me, I refrained from my usual pre match refreshments.

The reason for this post is to thank any other block 4 regulars who stand at the back with me for both their respect for my daughter, apologising for the odd "f" and for making them feel welcome.

I also want to thank the stewards for their relaxed and light hearted way they policed a boring game, in fact there was more entertainment to be had with that banter between us and the stewards than there was on the pitch for much of the game.

End result, my daughter cant wait to go to another game, (it will be a while cos I do like my saturday with the lads) and she hasn't stopped singing knees up mother brown since.

Thanks to all, shows that, granted on a low key game, there is still room even in the itchen north for some respect and boisterous good fun!
