OldNick Posted 18 September, 2010 Share Posted 18 September, 2010 In all the years I have followed Saints the only manager i recall getting off to a good start was Bally. Time and again you see clubs change manager and they go on a winning streak, with us all we get is more of the same.
chocco boxo Posted 18 September, 2010 Share Posted 18 September, 2010 I know typical Saints, also we have caretaker Managers who never win a game? Saints always like to buck trends, also so many players break scoring ducks against us!

Other teams seem to get an immediate boost when they sack a manager and either employ a caretaker or permanent. Never happens to us though! Lol Alps so true, it seems that if anyone has not won for months or not scored , play us. Plymouth this season the lad who scored had not scored for a year and guess who it was against last/
buctootim Posted 18 September, 2010 Share Posted 18 September, 2010 Ffs, new manager syndrome doesn't exist. It's been proven. Next. The honeymoon period does exist. Saints get consistently ****ed for months when a new guy comes in.

In the case of wGS and IMO NA the players in both cases had had poor pre seasons training leaving the players "off the pace", whereas Bally took over a side in January that had won 2 of their last 4 league games. In 2001 it took wGS 4 matches (D L L & L) and double training sessions before he got them "up to pace" to compete with the other teams. Whereas Bally took over in Jan 1994 the final 4 league games before were W (CHELSEA), D (mancity), L (NORWICH) & W (COVENTRY), the first 3 with Branfoot in charge. The players were fit enough they just needed a change in tactics, i.e. play to Matty strengths.
