eelpie Posted 4 October, 2008 Share Posted 4 October, 2008 I noticed during this weeks Euro matches how many times teams had men defending the posts when threatened. This evening three of Coventry's goals were stabbed in by the far post. I have often thought that Saints so frequently leave themselves vulnerable there, especially during set play situations. Is it just me that thinks Saints are tactically naiive defending the goals around the posts? Certainly Chris Coleman and his Coventry team had done their homework. badgerx16 Posted 4 October, 2008 Share Posted 4 October, 2008 Saints are tactically naive all over the pitch. A combination of playing last year's reserves under a one dimensional conference league coach.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 4 October, 2008 Share Posted 4 October, 2008 I cant remember the last time we scored from a corner,or defended well from a corner. I dont know what the players do in training, but it isnt working on set pieces.

Under Weststand Posted 4 October, 2008 Share Posted 4 October, 2008 The thing is its been no different from the last 2 years regarding corners/long throws. We have had a shoddy defence for years & never seems to be a priority???

The only ones i could think of was Beattie against Manure and Dodd when he scored directly from a corner.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 4 October, 2008 Share Posted 4 October, 2008 Basically we persist with Lloyd James at RB - look at all our league games, and most of our conceded goals come from the right hand side. It's blatantly obvious....time to get a grip FFS Jan.... PS - It's not James' fault he's playing there, granted.

Our forwards don't know how to attack a corner, and so our defence probably look good on the training ground against our forwards

I didnt think that our strikers would be the ones attacking during training. No wonder we cant defend.
VectisSaint Posted 6 October, 2008 Share Posted 6 October, 2008 LOL! I didnt think that our strikers would be the ones attacking during training. No wonder we cant defend. It makes our strikers look good as well, even BWP can score against our defenders from a corner LOL
