Saint_clark Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Was anyone else surprised by the scale of it? I assumed it was just a continuation of Saints in the Community, didn't realise it had nearly 10 different programs. And all those kids will probably grow up to be Saints fans, whereas they otherwise might have become a plastic. I think we're more of a family club now than we have been for many a year. georgeweahscousin Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Weird. Since our scallies propelled us to category A hoolies, I think we are much less of a family club than when I first started going.

Have you honestly seen trouble at Saints games on the scale of Millwall, Leeds, Cardiff etc? The worst i've seen is V Pompey, and that was nowhere near the level you see at the previously mentioned. Personally I think we're considered "high risk" just because of the sheer amount of people we take away from home nowadays. My brothers a steward at Yeovil and they were told to expect a pitch invasion from the Saints end. There was nothing planned at all, it was just because there were so many of us. No I haven't seen much trouble(I have seen some), but I have seen plenty of "yoof" looking for it at away games.
S-Clarke Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Looks quite an impressive setup, also noticed Cortese (and one other person in the directors box) staying out all of HT clapping the groups going round the pitch.

Tractor_Saint Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Was really glad that the Peterboro fans also clapped the kids round - there were a lot of them though!! Is this the reason games now finish at 17:00 rather than 16:45 like 'in the olden days'
Hopkins Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Saints Foundation told Cortese they'd make 150k from there project, Cortese has demanded and insisted he will ensure they get 1m. True story.

True story. Aim high. Why aim for mediocrity? Seems to be his philosophy. "I want us to be a settled Premiership team..." Tac-tics Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 I work for Chelsea's Foundation and as a Saints fan I am massively impressed with the scale and structure of it. Really would love to be part of a scheme and a tad cliche 'community' like that. We already will be looking at some ideas of Saints on what we can use. £1m? I think they could
Big John Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 Best half time entertainment for an age, the Albion Band would have been the icing though. Many have called for the Albion Band previously and now imho is the time to wheel them out. Those youngsters were a sight to be proud of and those working with them behind the scenes deserve our respect, it's not all about what we see on the pitch you know, it's as much about how the club involves the community in it's success, they are after all nothing without US. Big John Posted 20 November, 2010 Share Posted 20 November, 2010 /\ They were well up for it and played to the crowd all the way around, made i proud it did. I have also heard that the players have been given the freedom (told) to get out and about and show their faces at more local youth team social events too. It costs nought but one cannot put a price on what the local community recoups by assocaition.
Dellman Posted 21 November, 2010 Share Posted 21 November, 2010 Half time made me so happy to think we have got our family club back after years of downward spiral. The future looked assured, its a time to celebrate and seeing NC giving them his backing was great. I had no idea all that was going on in the background.
