The original plans were submitted in November 2009 and granted permission in February 2010. However the club has this month submitted plans for an even more extensive upgrade to the Staplewood training ground. Plans state they expect a decision early in 2011.

Looks very impressive! Well done Nicola Cortese and team! Will help attract players both at first team level and youngsters to the academy. A real sign of intent from the club of its long term aims and investment. :)

I am just going to go ahead and assume the worse.

In my mind this means that we are definately not moving in the right direction, it is all in Cortese's master plan to p*ss off each and everyone of us as fans. This will never happen ever, even though they have paid for the plans to be drawn up and submitted them, it all means nothing.

F*ck him and F*ck this optimistic place, you should all see NC as the devil that he is.

Has Deppo stolen Smirkings log in details?

It's just that certain individuals decided to have a pop at posters assuming the worst when no one has actually done that so I felt there was value in reiterating my stance.

Thank you for explaining the reasoning behind commenting again. Perhaps your next post could be to explain the reasoning behind posting the reasoning behind again commenting on not worth commenting until the work actually starts.

No i am just fed up, NC is clearly only doing this to raise our optimism and eventually drive us all to the brink of depression.

Did you play anymore Skypoker in the end anyway ?

Nah, playing for money is a mugs game. Do you play for money a lot?

Yeah i am on PKR and up, i have put about £40 on it and been playing for about a year or so. Taken a fair amount out of it so far.

I hate PKR. Full of foreigners. Sky bet is OK, but Betfair is the best. I have a set £11 p.w pay in limit. If I win I cash out, if I lose it's no big deal. You're doing well so keep doing what you're doing.

Why on earth would we go to get Planning done from architects based in Manchester when there are plenty of practices with local site knowledge in the area...seems bonkers to me!

Rupert is based in Manchester now. Couple this with the Saints for sale story. 2 + 2 = 4.

Why do they need to be local? Everything they need to know can be picked up very quickly.

This architect firm has good, recent experience in training ground developments for Premier League clubs. They recently did a similar £5 million development for Stoke City, although Stoke's is smaller in size than the proposed Saints plan in terms of floor space.

because you have to get approval from a Local Planning Authority..who a local practice may already have ties and links with and know how they operate, who to contact...persuasive talking etc etc. Plus the amount of documents you need to submit which require a demonstration of how the scheme will affect the community, roads, traffic etc etc etc....local knowledge is really quite important for a scheme of this size...in an area like this.

They already had the initial plans approved in February 2010. Most of the groundwork has been done and dusted successfully already. Look on the New Forest council website and you will see all the surveys etc that have been done for both the successful Nov 2009 application and the extended Dec 2010 application.

I agree. This is Southamptons equivalent of the Olympic regeneration of the east end. Anyone would think it was just a few changing rooms and an astra turf pitch.

Yup...produced and completed by a very capable practice in Ocean Village....who were completely arse raped by NC, 'so I have heard'.

That, if true, isn't how you do business. That'd be like taking a pair of kittens from a breeder and not paying for them.

Floor plans have been added on the 7th December to the development on the council's website. Only the ground floor plan, not the 1st floor.

Ground floor of main building - http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/images/planningimages/161300_39.pdf

Strangely there is a "ball signing room"! :D

I like the big press conference room similar to what Arsenal have.

Does look an awesome development. Upstairs will be the offices for the management/chairman/scouting, the players restaurant, players lounge and balcony overlooking the main pitch. Must be costing loads as it is designed by the same architects that did Stoke City's £7 million development, and Saints' is bigger and more extensive than that.

If it all comes together, which i am sure it will then it really is a statement of intent. Hopefully this round of planning and consequent building work should all go through hitch free, i will let you know if there are any developments that i hear about.

I mean, there is no way that a team who is not expecting to be in the premiership any time soon would spend such a massive amount on upgrading to top facilities.

I am genuinely excited.
