Saint Fan CaM Posted 17 February, 2011 Share Posted 17 February, 2011 Anyone else watched the SaintsTV extended highlights of the Carlisle game? At half-time as the teams were coming out, Carlisle's Manager Abbott was escorted to the stands. There was a lot of cut sound due to the expletives he was uttering to the officials! Found it quite amusing that someone decided it was a good idea to leave that bit of video in and let us all know what a complete numpty Abbott is and the lengths some Managers will go to, to try and influence or unsettle the ref. Saint Stimp Posted 17 February, 2011 Share Posted 17 February, 2011 According to the football league show, Abbott is 'never talking to the ref again'. Poor little flower.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 February, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 February, 2011 Perhaps I should add that the video was unusually shot in the corridor/tunnel prior to them entering the stadium. He was not a happy bunny, but credit to the ref - he didn't seem bothered atall.
Golden Balls Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 Was good that they left it in. I can understand his frustration though. We would have gone mental if a Saints player got sent off like that.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 We would have gone mental if a Saints player got sent off like that. Why? He was tugging Chamberlain's shirt as Alex was beating him for pace and about to break down the wing in a promising attack for Saints and then hurled abuse at the referee's assistant. He deserved everything he got.

Nothing more than when the players question a ref when he gives a foul. Refs seem to get very protective of the assistants. I see NA and AL both said it was harsh too

In fact I was of the opinion that the yellow was for abuse of the linesman more than for the foul - but only my opinion mind. Does anyone know what the referee's report said? Jonnyboy Posted 18 February, 2011 Share Posted 18 February, 2011 I wondered why the bloke who I thought was their manager was always on his mobile phone in the technical area!

Just watched it back on saints player 'all angles covered' and I still think it was harsh. His team mates showed a lot more decent after the red card and as far as I know, none of them were booked

I think he thought he won the foul and couldnt believe it when it was given to oxo. Clever work by oxo as it could have easily gone the other way
Hopkins Posted 19 February, 2011 Share Posted 19 February, 2011 Defintley a harsh 2nd yellow. AOC clearly holding onto the defender just as much, but just lets go earlier and therefore goes flying when the Carlisle defender lets go.

If you're on a yellow card, then you don't get in the linos face and start waving your arms about like some kind of demented muppet. He was a complete plank and he was always going to get a 2nd yellow for doing that. It I was Abbott I'd have shredded him for being a dunce
