Patience is a virtue

Some sections of our fan base are incredibly frustrating.

When our defence/midfield pass sidewards and occasionally backwards, sometimes it's a necessity. Why do people groan and moan about it?

If there's not a gap, or the pass isn't on, retain possession, be patient and wait for an opening!

I can guarantee you these same fans would be the first to jump up and moan if the likes of Jaidi or Fonte just lumped it forward in hope of it falling to a Saints shirt.

Today is a perfect example. We've got the quality to unlock sides at this level, but patience is needed.

Two second half goals provided us with a vital three points, just because we're in the third tier, we're not going to smash every team 4 or 5 nil.

Today was a professional, albeit slightly underwhelming performance, but as we're at the business end of the season, results are all that matter.

We're in a very good position right now, just stay behind the lads, even if we fail to score early on.

Good teams win when they're not at their best, and we're doing that. Imagine if we start performing too!

Less of the negativity, and to coin Nigel's phrase, together as one!

they can all be dog shyt so long as we keep winning, thats all that matters right now

As much as I agree with this, We need to support our players that are being surrounded and being forced back towards are own goal not leave them languishing on their own.

I agree with everything said here (bar the "business end of the season" bit - 3 points for a win at start or end of season!)

I agree with the OP.

There are a handful of posters on here that whinge and moan during games (some of whom don't even have access to saints player/a radio commentary let alone see the play). It's ridiculous. Take today - we played well in the first half and had Sheff Wed penned in for virtually the whole 45 minutes yet there were moans and groans. Admitedly it wasn't like watching Brazil, but we are in league 1 and league 1 players aren't gonna deliever perfect football very often. It's all about being the better side and winning over 90 minutes and we more often than not do this.

I think 3 points for a win is the main reason for supporters not being very patient. There's far too much focus on the league table now at the expense of focussing on the match.

If it was me i'd go back to 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw and then they'd be less stress about getting the win and we could be happy with a draw.

Heck, in training and in our matches we get told off if try to be too ambitious and not play the simple pass back to a supporting player, and then move, of course. Appoggio - support - is a frequent call.

Our coach used to bollock us if we played a ball over 40 yards. It drove mental mind as I could hit a cow's balls let alone his arse from that sort of distance...

It was a good discipline though. We rarely gave the ball away and only ever hoofed it under severe pressure at the back.

Was it ever suggested you might partake of a gender differentiation course?

I predicted 3-0...

so you can see at 2-0 I need the ball moved forward more quickly for goal scoring chances..:p

Then Adam goes and hits the post when he had the whole goal to shoot at...

FFS Saints are you purposely trying to ruin my chances of moving up the prediction league..;)

More effort required or you will be shipped out..:)
