St Marco Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 I have it on good authority that in the international break those who were not involved (pretty much everyone) were allowed to go away on holiday. It was Jans decision. Now im not having a go here at Jan or saying what he did is wrong, but surely if your team had been thrashed 1-4 and you had won only 3 times in 10 games (11 if you want to include the cup) they should of been using that time for something better then sun tans? NickG Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 he said on the radio that the players were given a three day "holiday" from training.
St Marco Posted 18 October, 2008 Author Share Posted 18 October, 2008 he said on the radio that the players were given a three day "holiday" from training. Well that is not what i was told. He let them have 7 days off from 8th to the 15th (weds to weds) due to the 2 week international break.
Arizona Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 I think it would be great to send the players on holiday, but only if DMG is forced to spend a week in a villa in sunny Groznyi.
beatlesaint Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 Well he went on holiday to Jersey (guest of Wilde maybe ?) himself, it says so in his notes in the programme !
The Red Bag Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 Good I'm glad he let them go. Why not?
paulwantsapint Posted 18 October, 2008 Share Posted 18 October, 2008 Do they get paid holiday mid season? or is it part of cost cutting? or allowing boys to catch up on education?
St Marco Posted 19 October, 2008 Author Share Posted 19 October, 2008 Good I'm glad he let them go. Why not? Well because they should probably be out on the pitch on the training ground learning something? Lookng at the squad i think we had 4 players away. Of which only 1 actually played a game during those 2 weeks. In my view we are not in a position to be able to let people have such time off. Especially since Jan said on the radio that the players don't know how to play another way then 4-5-1 etc.. should be out their teaching them a different way because if they don't learn a plan B the rest of the season will be just as bad as the first quarter of it. Long Shot Posted 19 October, 2008 Share Posted 19 October, 2008 His excuse after the Coventry game that "the boyse are a bit tired" (sic) did look a bit thin. Surely every club had played the same amount of games so we were all in the same boat. And yet the one player who has been on the pitch the most this season (Dave McGoldrick) is never rested? JP is starting to lose the plot but how many of these sort of decisions are taken by him, I wonder.
alpine_saint Posted 19 October, 2008 Share Posted 19 October, 2008 Jesus, we've got a manager as clueless as Burley....
Alain Perrin Posted 19 October, 2008 Share Posted 19 October, 2008 "I can't believe JP let the players go on holiday" "Why didn't JP let the players go on holiday in the two week break" Seeing as three of our starting eleven were with the under 21's the concept of training throughout the break would seem to be a moot one anyway. .... but don't let that stop you getting your knickers in a twist. It would be interesting to see what other CCC sides did in the international break - or even Watford.

St Marco Posted 19 October, 2008 Author Share Posted 19 October, 2008 I'm sure it would, but I doubt it will make any difference to the result.... Sorry mate but that is stupid ideology. Most teams train a lot. The succesful teams have managers who are obsessed with working stuff out tacticly on the pitch in training. All that hard work pays off in the games. To suggest it has no bearing on the result is daft.
Whitey Grandad Posted 19 October, 2008 Share Posted 19 October, 2008 Let me put it this way: Either you work things out on the training field, or you have to work them out during matches. To quote JVP: 'I left the first half XI on the field because they had to make it right and do it themselves and I told them to do that'.
