Rory Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Classic. I remember the two battles with the Hatters really well. Dave Jones turned them into a really good side with a good mix of youth and experience. We were shocking.

The Cat Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 What was our defence doing for the second goal? Shocking. Was so gutted at the time that we lost that game. If I remember rightly we would have played a 2 legged semi against relegation threatened Middlesbrough if we'd won. A team who we'd already beaten twice that season. Sadly the highlights don't stretch to showing Paul Jones last minute save from a 30 yard Le Tiss thunderbolt that was heading into the top corner. One of the best saves I've seen. Remember being gutted that we didn't sign him but with hindsight no loss at all.

View From The Top Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 I'd hitch hiked down for that game IIRC as I was skint. A result that ultimately got Dave Jones the job with us.
Saints67 Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Slightly off topic but in the run that lead to us meeting with Stockport we beat Peterboro away (1-4) with goals coming from Watson, Charlton, Magilton and Drydon. However can anyone tell me who the scorers were in the 3-1 away win at Lincoln City? I ask as these were my first Saints games and I was so skint at the time I couldn't afford parking, pie or programme! Cheers.
Pat from Poole Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Weirdly I went to the 2-2 away game but missed the replay at The Dell. The away game was a really good game actually, quality bundle in the away end for Egil's late equaliser.

Alun Armstrong I think, and yes he did go to 'Boro. Never really lived up to his potential.

My only recognition is that I think they went ahead through an own goal, possibly by Benali.
Paul Chuckle Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 Was at the Stockport replay. Just remember Van Gobbell who apparently could run 100metres In 10 seconds get done for the winner
