It seems to me that everything goes tits up playing JPs way,but then the players revert to what they know best and we start to play much better.

Getting the impression that the last 3 game show this clearly, and that the problem is more about JPs ideas than the age of the players.

You mean when they play well you're giving credit to the players but when they play poorly it's the manager's fault ?

I'd love to see a rational analysis of THAT one.

The improvement yesterday was due to that motivating factor of playing with 10 men, nothing motivates like a perceived injustice and most of the players put more effort in as a result. The ref's constant appalling decision making helped maintain that motivation right to the end.

This isn't just a problem with Jan but one with many managers. How often did Strachan say his players did their own thing and surprised him. It's psychological and this is what everyone is on about when they talk about not being able to relie always on young players. Theo and Bale suffered periods of loss of confidence and a manager really has to know his stuff to handle them when they do. In the trenches it was known as the bulldog spirit when British soldiers rose above all expectations when their backs up against a wall. Give them time, just as Jan has been instructed to do this season. Otherwise we all know that Rupert would have removed him by now.

Yesterday we played Wolves off the park in the second half playing essentially 4-4-1. There is not much difference between 4-4-2 and

4-4-1-1, if the two strikers are mobile and the other players get up quickly in support, which we don't do, we could be a lot more potent.

The midfielders not on the ball need to bust a gut to get into the box then we will score goals. The manager hasn't done much wrong. Some selections, Gobern yesterday for example haven't helped. Some players at times especially some of the selected wide men haven't played wide and our shape and passing was poor. That is down to them.

It is our looose defending and covering that is losing us games. We need to hunt in packs when defending, get numbers around the ball, mark and cover tightly and uninvolved players sprinting back to fill in on the far post.

It's not as much fun as passing the ball, needs greater concentration and willpower to do it. But if they do we will start winning.
