brightspark Posted 8 December, 2008 Share Posted 8 December, 2008 (edited) Since we have been in the Championship here is our league record for televised matches: Southampton 0-0 Wolves Coventry 1-1 Southampton Wolves 0-0 Southampton Southampton 1-0 Luton Reading 2-0 Southampton Southampton 1-3 Watford Derby 2-2 Southampton Preston 3-1 Southampton Southampton 1-2 Colchester Southampton 1-2 Sunderland Southampton 1-2 Derby Derby 2-3 Southampton Watford 3-2 Southampton Southampton 1-0 Cardiff Burnley 2-3 Southampton West Brom 1-1 Southampton Southampton 0-1 Blackpool QPR 4-1 Southampton Coventry 4-1 Southampton Southampton 0-1 Bristol City Crystal Palace 3-0 Southampton TOTAL: Wins 4, Draws 5, Losses 12 Played 21, Points 17 For 23, Against 37, GD -14 Thats not very good. Especially this season with 5 losses in a row. Is it a mental thing or an annoying coincidence? And also, as a team who got relegated (and ie should be one of the stronger teams in the championship), 4 wins from 21 is just downright sh*t isn't it? People watching footy on the TV must enjoy betting against us nowadays. Edited 8 December, 2008 by brightspark
saint lard Posted 8 December, 2008 Share Posted 8 December, 2008 This will all become insignificant when we beat Man UTD on the tellybox.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 9 December, 2008 Share Posted 9 December, 2008 This will all become insignificant when we beat Man UTD on the tellybox. No - it'll be SIX telly defeats in a row. And in some of them we were lucky to get nil. Southampton football club are an embarrassment to its supporters.
Saint Bones Posted 9 December, 2008 Share Posted 9 December, 2008 Out of interest , were most of those games Midweek ? I think our midweek record is pretty ordinary too ( Think that is - not sure )

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 9 December, 2008 Share Posted 9 December, 2008 Since we have been in the Championship here is our league record for televised matches: Southampton 0-0 Wolves Coventry 1-1 Southampton Wolves 0-0 Southampton Southampton 1-0 Luton Reading 2-0 Southampton Southampton 1-3 Watford Derby 2-2 Southampton Preston 3-1 Southampton Southampton 1-2 Colchester Southampton 1-2 Sunderland Southampton 1-2 Derby Derby 2-3 Southampton Watford 3-2 Southampton Southampton 1-0 Cardiff Burnley 2-3 Southampton West Brom 1-1 Southampton Southampton 0-1 Blackpool QPR 4-1 Southampton Coventry 4-1 Southampton Southampton 0-1 Bristol City Crystal Palace 3-0 Southampton TOTAL: Wins 4, Draws 5, Losses 12 Played 21, Points 17 For 23, Against 37, GD -14 I've discovered the upside to abject poverty ! Being unable to afford Sky Sports I've not actually seen any of the above TV defeats (the FA Cup Bristol City horror show on the BBC excepted) - so carrying on with this mind I now intend to donate all my cash to charity so that I can't afford a season ticket for next season either . Doubtless this will spare me further mental anguish and cure me of the chronic Saints related clinical depression I've suffered with ever since Steve Wigley first darkened our collective doorsteps . brightspark Posted 9 December, 2008 Author Share Posted 9 December, 2008 Out of interest , were most of those games Midweek ? I think our midweek record is pretty ordinary too ( Think that is - not sure ) Midweek record since Championship in 05/06, only including games played on a Tuesday or Wednesday: Luton 3-2 Southampton Ipswich 2-2 Southampton Southampton 0-0 Reading Leeds 2-1 Southampton Hull 1-1 Southampton Southampton 0-1 Sheff Utd Southampton 0-0 Crystal Palace Plymouth 2-1 Southampton Southampton 0-0 Preston Burnley 1-1 Southampton Southampton 2-0 Coventry Crystal Palace 0-2 Southampton Cardiff 1-0 Southampton Southampton 4-3 Birmingham Southampton 1-1 Crystal Palace (boxing day) Southampton 2-1 Sheff Wed Coventry 2-1 Southampton Southampton 2-2 Cardiff Derby 2-3 Southampton (play off) Southampton 1-1 Colchester Preston 5-1 Southampton Bristol City 2-1 Southampton Southampton 0-0 Wolves Ipswich 2-0 Southampton Southampton 0-0 Sheff Wed Colchester 1-1 Southampton (boxing day) Southampton 0-3 Watford (new years) Southampton 0-1 Norwich Stoke 3-2 Southampton Southampton 0-2 Plymouth Wolves 2-2 Southampton Southampton 1-0 Leicester Southampton 2-2 Ipswich Southampton 2-0 Norwich Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton Southampton 1-1 Coventry Southampton 0-0 Plymouth Wins 7, Draws 17, Losses 13 Played 37, Points 38 For 39, Against 49, GD -10 INTERESTINGLY, we won 5 of those 7 midweek games in 06/07, play off season. WITHOUT that season the record is Wins 2, Draws 15, Losses 12. So looking at that, we arent very good at all in midweek!!! 38pts from 37 would certainly relegate us!!! Andy_Porter Posted 9 December, 2008 Share Posted 9 December, 2008 I'm sure I remember us beating Leeds on Sky since we came down, your list is flawed. We did and Rudi scored IIRC, wasn't on Sky though. Was on some foreign channel and a few pubs managed to show it.

Lets face it, it is way past bed time for most of our players, and they don't like missing their bed time story Although a bit older, BWP gets a bit nervous everytime he sees a camera pointing in his direction ;-) Can one of you stattos come up with a list of results tabulated with away shirts worn? Have we got more points away from home in our famous red n white stripes than at SMS this season It seems to me that it doesn't matter if it is on teh box or not, day or night, weekend or mid week, if there is a letter Y in the day then we are pretty much screwed
