Mr X Posted 20 December, 2008 Share Posted 20 December, 2008 Le-god that is.............................. probably not, he probably is no less qualified than jan in theory lol, he wouldn't wanna risk tarnishing a good career though....... cant blame him sorry i'm thinking outloud :smt033
Colinjb Posted 20 December, 2008 Share Posted 20 December, 2008 No, Le Tiss is no manager. I don't want him to ruin his reputation, he doesn't need to try to save us, he has already done enough.

Alain Perrin Posted 20 December, 2008 Share Posted 20 December, 2008 Not in a million years. Le Tiss was an unmotivated player blessed with more talent in his left toe than most FIFA Players of the Season. That lack of drive would make him an awful manager. Alain Perrin Posted 21 December, 2008 Share Posted 21 December, 2008 he must have had a certain degree of motivation to keep us up virtually single handedly on two or three seasons don't you think? Nope. No doubting his talent but he hardly made the most of it. People dress up his staying with Saints as loyalty. Personally I saw it as the comfortable and easy option. Fine, his decision and our benefit - I just think his talent deserved more. He was more interested in pies than success which I think was a pity for anyone who loves football. Cross MLT with say a Frank Lampard (for his alleged workrate and dedication) and you'd have a player who would have rivalled Pele or Best in my opinion. As it was you had a player who was mercurial but lazy.
TopGun Posted 21 December, 2008 Share Posted 21 December, 2008 MLT has no illusions himself. He's far better off on Sky.

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 21 December, 2008 Share Posted 21 December, 2008 um i know for fact he said hed take it if offered ... I think he could be good - He would create a buzz and a feel good factor that would get people back throught he gate - he has a good and natural way with the media and with a good number two it could work - and the biggest plus point is that he was one of the best set piece players in the game so i guess he might be able to get one of our present day proffessionals to get a ****ing corner beyond the first ****ing man!!!! offix Posted 21 December, 2008 Share Posted 21 December, 2008 I would hate for him to take the job, and run the risk of ruining his great (and deserved) stature as one of the club's all time great heroes. On the other hand, could he do worse than JP? Seems hard to imagine right now.
Kenilworthy Posted 21 December, 2008 Share Posted 21 December, 2008 I don't think he would have the motivation to be manager. But surely we should be using him as a specialist coach for corners, free-kicks and penalties.

'Erm, I dunno, I just kick it and it happens.'
knellster Posted 22 December, 2008 Share Posted 22 December, 2008 Do you mean as a player or a manager? If it's the latter then no thanks because, as has been said previously, it was all natural to him so I don't think he'd be that good and I'd hate to hear chants of "Tiss out" at St Mary's. However, coming back as a player? Well at least we'd have someone who could take a corner that went more than 2 feet above the ground and reached the 6 yard box. chuz Posted 22 December, 2008 Share Posted 22 December, 2008 I am not sure how much of the "It's all god given talent" really is the case. In Southampton Cult Heroes book, Matt says "I would spend ages practising shots with both feet. My left foot wasn't very good when I started but towards the middle and end part of my career, I was fairly confident if it fell on my left foot outside the box as well. It was something I worked on." I am not sure that it is possible to be as good as he was without putting the effort in too...
knellster Posted 22 December, 2008 Share Posted 22 December, 2008 I agree that Le God worked on his game which is one of the annoying things about Saturday. The only two people from Southampton who could kick equally well with both feet were Kelvin Davis and the bloke who won the half time penalty shoot out. Sheff Saint Posted 22 December, 2008 Share Posted 22 December, 2008 He could take us down to League 2 and his reputation would not be tarnished. We know he'd be trying his best or he'd not be in the job, and that is I want from a manager. I also know he'd quit as soon as it came apparent he wasn't up to it so they'd be no negativity. I reckon he'd do ok though. With a good number 2 we could do a lot lot worse.

We need something to happen now - so if that is what it takes to give us a lift then lets do it - we have nothing to loose - we all admit we are in queer . with regard to Redknap ( I trust thats who you mean) he will always be a good manager and motivator - what happened here was down to one man and one man only - he is still here sadly. replaying his relegation game but with no changes to the programme! Sorry, but I can't agree with that. Whatever way you look at it, Redknapp played an important part in our relegation as well. If he had not brought in his disinterested mercenaries (Bernard, for one), made some really strange selections, allegedly gave up with team talks for our final important games, and almost seemed to deliberately undermine any confidence at the club, we still could have stayed up despite our chariman! Lets not tred water that has been done but we were well doomed by the time Harry arrived - what is important is that those in charge of the club realise from the mistakes of that relegation season and do everything in there power to prevent it happening again - hence i guess this post. As far as i can see all we are doing is hurtling down the same path -making the same mistakes. In 2004 we stuck with wigley for too long. Lets not do the sme this time. The post is about Le Tiss and could he do a job for us - I for one think in our current situation there isnt probably a better candidate for working miracles for when everything seams lost! He knows the club and the fans - he knows the brand of football that we like, he could inspire the youth, and we can unite behind him and leave the board to get on with doing important director issues like putting up pictures of trains in the boardroom! He would need a capable number two - but it could work. I like Jan as a gentleman - and I think he has been shafted but unless we can start getting results at SMS we are ****ed - so alas we need to make the change. There is no other way to describe it. Blasphemy. You should repent you sins. Le God didn't just stay with us because it was the easy option! In some more draconian societies you would be stoned to death for making such an outburst. If SFC was an Iranian club in Tehran you would even at this moment be hanging from a crane in full view of the public. How very dare you! Repent sinner. Repent.
