We're going to win on Sunday. How do I know? Because it's my birthday on Sunday, and the last time it was my birthday and Saints were on tele was when we whipped The Yids in the FA Cup. I didn't go to that game and watched it on the box. I am not going to this game, but again will be watching on tele. (Am I being optimistic?)

So what was our greatest victory against United.

1976

6-3 at The Dell

4-1 at Old Trafford ( " His Name is Ronny Davies, he's the leader of the team"

or Tim Flowers and Co at Old Trafford.

Was at all three, got rat arsed after all three as well.

6-3. We had two goals disallowed as well.

Still remember Bruce Whathisname from South Today doing the report on Grandstand; while he was live the second disallowed goal went in then the final allowed goal, and the slot was only about 30 seconds long. He was physically drained by watching this match........

Happy times...:-(

I have been looking for some video clip footage on the net, but due to working I have not had the time to scour everywhere. I have thought found two good clips so far. Which you will see on the link. A sublime lon by Le Tissier against Schmichal and Stokes goal to win the FA CUP.

My own thoughts on Man Utd go like this, In the mid 90s it was not just the beating of Man Utd which was so good but the manor of their excuses when they lost.

Beating them one nil on a monday night, Fergie complained that the ground was too small and that Manure was used to playing at larger grounds and this had dis orientanted them...

Then we beat them 6-3 with a lot of the goals coming near the end, Fergie complained that the ref played to much added time. Which had its own sartorial elegance, due to the fact no ref in the land would finish a game until Manure had scored the winner, with a few games involving them having over 7 mins over time and them scoring last gasp winners. Also it did not matter about the time, as Manure had not led at any point.

But my all time favourite is http://saintsnodisbelieving.blogspot.com/2008/12/invisible-man.html the famous grey shirt, when they arrived and conceded three goals in the first half as Manure, and to hide the shame changed shirts to the blue and white stripes and left as sheff wed. That has to be the best excuse for losig ever. So please Saints win this game, because it will not only be the victory which we will be class but the excuse to come with it will just add to the occasion.

That aside, my blog turned pro yesterday and had its first article from a professional sports writer. Your welcome to come and have a look. And any support would be welcome. Thank you.

I'm going to try and locate the 'greykitgate' press conference I attended at Old Trafford whilst on work experience for BBC GMR back in 96. That really was a laugh and an eye opener. Excuses flying everywhere, journos p1ssing themselves and Martin Edwards calling me a w^nker.

Good times

for those of us old enough to have been there and I know there are many on here who were, the Cup Final will never ever be bettered as a win against MU, it just meant so much, and still does, seeing the ball go past stepney still brings a shiver down the spine, the split second of disbelief, followed by complete pandemonium!!

The top tier of the old stadium was literally bouncing up and down, incredible memories...

Nothing we ever do will ever compare to that goal going in and the win.
