Saint_clark Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 So they do, but we don't. Am I the only one who finds that a little odd?
once_bitterne Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 So they do, but we don't. Am I the only one who finds that a little odd? Not really. We are in the CCC, don't have much cash, undersoil heating is expensive and how many games have we lost to a frozen pitch in the last few years? JohnnyFartPants Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 So they do, but we don't. Am I the only one who finds that a little odd? I do not know if you are the only one that finds it odd, but I can tell you I don't. Why put in under soil heating when the stadium is on the South coast of England and pulling across a tarpaulin will do the trick? How many frozen pitches has the place suffered since it was built? We are having an unsually cold spell and still we haven't lost a game to the weather yet. Barnsley is in the grim North and it snows there in August. They snap dogs off of lamp posts too. Of course they have more reason for it. Incidently, they also sell more condoms in whore houses than they do in the Vatican.
Alanh Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 So they do, but we don't. Am I the only one who finds that a little odd? It's not really odd. SMS is built right next to the water so benefits from slightly higher temperatures than anywhere inland, also we have a cover that protects the pitch in bad weather. I think they can pump hot air under it. Also with SMS being an enclosed stadium I'd expect that the chances of frost really penetrating the pitch would be a lot less than at any stadium with gaps between stands. trousers Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 Our beloved chairman sits in the center circle 3 hours before the game and thaws the pitch out with his facial glow. Or so I'm told
waggy Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 can't see that being a problem 'cos it's about 10 degrees warmer up here than it is down in God's own country at the moment. us northern monkeys are having a heat wave it's only -1 in sunny north yorkshire!
