Yes...you mostly took the p!ss - not quick enough for CCC and all the usual. I think he will be another astute WGS acquisition. Know I harp on about it a bit, but it is a good way to go. Get these excellent MLS kids on a 'loan' til the US league starts in late March...you can see if they're any good 'fast enough for CCC' etc and just cover their modest wages. If they're not up to it then eff them off, if not acquire them...no harm no foul.

I have submitted a detailed dossier to SFC/JP of potential and salary requirements for some prospects, if they use it fair play, if not at least I tried to help our Saints. Better than me just blabbing about them or whinging on here huh?

Fair play to you Tim - nothing like backing your words with actions.

Now can you pull your effin' finger out, lose all these MLS kids (I'm sure your on commission...!) and get us bloody Ronaldo, before the window closes.

Do that, my friend, and you will have true legend status here..! ;)

are these kids likely to be allowed to come over here (as Beckham was) and are they going to want to? If they are good enough then get them over here. Great idea, we need whatever help we can get and as Lowe said a few years back we need to be innovative.

With respect Tim, please stop preaching. You're on Radio Hampshire with Armstrong every week, I know, but you are not at the games so please listen to those who have to watch before commenting at length when you are not there....

This might sound daft but would there not be work permit problems anyway?

Good point, I thought of that. The players that would suit our puposes best are a) young and like with Kyle Davies you can work round it. b) Hold British commonwealth or European status. c) Are internationally well qualified enough.

Totally understand and respect what your saying, you make a valid point. Just as a heads-up I do come home (normally) at least 2/3 times a season and take in several games. Recently I have been to Derby, Norwich, Ipswich twice, Wolves to name but a few + numerous home games. I also take in all the pay-per-views, webcasts and Setanta games. All-in-all I have been able to watch about 20 Saints games a season since we've been down and more than that in the prem. IMHO, that maybe not as many as you but more than many posters and, for that matter, more than a lot that call Radio Hampshire.

I also raise 'Guide Dogs For The Blind' and have several blind friends that are Saints (or other sports teams) fans..are they not allowed to have opinions about their team(s)?

I am truly sorry if anything I have said on the show has offended you, I just try to point out the good and positive stuff..Lord knows there are enough that can't wait to talk the negative side. If you go tomorrow enjoy the game, it is not available here except commentary tomorrow so I will listen, call my son and best friend (he goes every game) and if I feel like making a comment I will.

Keep up the positive comments on Radio Hampshire Tim, they're a breath of fresh air in a (often ill informed) gale force of negativity.

I was thinking about the differences between fans who attend games regularly vs. occasional / radio vs. read the report fans. The fix that they require to keep them happy is very different.

All get ****ed off when the team lose and perform badly. Attendees (like myself) are pacified if the football is good and exciting, but we lose. If you're a radio/report fan then the result is far more important than the experience.

For example I would vehemently resist appointing a hoof and run manager, even if it meant winning a few more games, because my match day experience would be reduced. Even a great radio presenter will struggle to convey the difference between a hoof and run goal and a crafted goal.

The issue this year has been that for EVERY televised game our team has failed to turn up. This means that the remote fan hasn't seen that there are positives to take away in the sea of negativity.

I'm not trying to make out that all is great if you sit in the stadium, it isn't. Just that it is probably easier to be despondent if you are sat in your armchair/car listening or reading about the game.

All in moderation though, we need to win more and that begins with today.

To be fair Tim, I have listened to your comments, as a coach you see it differently, your comments are pretty well on the mark, talking about shape, lack of width, targeting areas, dead ball situations etc. Despite not being at the matches you are pretty well summing up what I see not happening.

Tim, what US players have come over to Europe and have done well or better at our level to those that haven't performed?

I would be interested to see the list and fees paid. The £3.5m for the player trialing at Celtic is way too much for Saints so the risk is obviously greater with younger more unknown players so much depends on the price (transfer or loan) of the players.

There are numerous success stories, however, I am not talking about buying an established 'star' of the American game, more about about picking up a hidden gem, an up and coming player or a good nipper. There are also great non-US players to pinch as well e.g. Shalree Joseph.

What a tremendous picture you've painted there mate, very well put. We should stick to the program, stay up, improve and who knows...
