sadoldgit Posted 11 October, 2019 Share Posted 11 October, 2019 Two more young people stabbed to death in London. 5 people slashed in Manchester. It is almost a daily occurrence. How do you combat it? Nobody should be carrying a knife. More stop and search and harsher penalties for carrying? Longer sentences for convicted stabbers? Where do you start? badgerx16 Posted 11 October, 2019 Share Posted 11 October, 2019 Nutters / thugs will always find something to use as a weapon, and if you come down hard on a particular implement they will find something else. What needs to be addressed, if possible, are the reasons why peoiple feel the need to carry implements that might be used for violence.

It has long got to the stage now where kids feel it is the thing to do to prove themselves as tough guys. These aren’t ****ed up older men fighting at closing time. Kids are murdering other kids in broad daylight.

whelk Posted 11 October, 2019 Share Posted 11 October, 2019 Been discussed before. Cut all youth and other services, and the police and hey presto things get worse. Levelling their mums houses might be a deterrent

Arndale attack is anything but a daily occurrence. If it was the US would be far more than 3 people taken to hospital.
sadoldgit Posted 17 October, 2019 Author Share Posted 17 October, 2019 44,000 cases of recorded knife crimes in the last year, up by 7%. In the last financial year 1072 weapons have been taken off of children, including knives, swords, machetes, a gun and a meat cleaver. Happy days. Weston Super Saint Posted 23 October, 2019 Share Posted 23 October, 2019 To be fair, if each and every one of the 44,000 recorded knife incidents in the last year were unique and not 'repeat offenders' it still equates to just 0.07% of the population commiting them. I'm not saying that knife crime isn't bad, but it certainly looks like a very tiny majority of people are commiting it....
