Balance to be had of not making everyone feel insecure and need to be a certain shape and the duty of care to look after yourself I know someone who is on them, he's lost a ton of weight but they're now hooked on them as they're worried about what would happen if they did come off. He wasn't particuarly fat, quote a tall broad guy, maybe a couple of stone overweight but looked okay as he's a big guy. He looks gaunt and ill now. If you've got a huge amount of weight to lose and are at risk of further issues then i can see why people would take them but for the person that is capable of exercise and diet it just seems a lazy way of doing it. 1

Agreed. I'm harsher than you. Anyone capable of exercise, can and should look after themselves and move around more. Anyone incapable of exercise can and should address their nutrition and not become obese. I'm horrified that we've got to the point where the message people are hearing is they don't have to worry about looking themselves as a jab will sort it. Eat less shite, move more. It's not complicated. 1

I first came across him about 6-7 years ago on youtube where he was doing a talk about his GP surgery and the amount of doctors that will stick a pill in someone rather than look at their lifestyle. Found him really interesting so followed him on social media and started listening to his podcast. He's a decent guy and talks a lot of sense. Not watched him program yet but will this week.
Weston Super Saint Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I've been reliably informed that this weekend is annual quitters weekend where the new year new me brigade decide they've had enough!! Hopefully the gym will be less busy as the weeks go by! Having said that it's not affected me that much this year as only been allowed to use spin bike and elliptical following my spinal surgery! But did manage to do a 2k row yesterday (my third rowing attempt in 8 months having done 2 five min sessions the previous two weeks to test the back out!). 8:14:3 which isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but way down on 7:43:2 the last time I did it in April! The rower is what helped me take the weight off - elliptical and spin bike have allowed me to keep it off but don't shift the last 5kg I want to lose!

Im a bit of a sucker for this stuff, i've taken creatine for a while as it has many benefits and no side effects, whey protein for a few years if i need to get daily protein intake up. I've also taken a vitamin D tablet and tumeric for the last fews years. A mate of mine has recently got me onto Lions Mane and Shilajit so going to give that a go for the next few months. He reckons Lions Mane is like the magic pill on the film Limitless but i'm yet to see that yet. Re supplements. I've added Shilajit, and changed my Lions Mane to one with an uptake formula, and increased the dose. Not the limitless reaction that your mate describes, but there's a difference for sure. If you're not feeling it, maybe look at dosage. 1

Turkish Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago how you getting on the the Lions Mane @whelk Been a bad start to the year for me, not been able to train much, cold, then ear infection first part of January, been struggling with a knee injury for a month, going back to the gym tomorrow to see what i can do. As i mentioned on the Crossfit stuff one of the best things about it is you can adapt the workout to suit you which also helps when you're injured, tomorrows workout is 8 rounds of Ski Erg/Bike/Row, snatches and then Burpees, i'll be fine with the first two bits but will swap the burpees for something else that doesn't put too much pressure on the knee.
Turkish Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Anyone done a Hyrox race? Son is doing the junior one in London in March, few people at our gym did the one in Manchester at the weekend, im tempted to give it a go.

We have a takeaway once a week usually a curry from a very good Indian. You’re right about McDonald’s when you don’t eat if for a while it makes you feel shit after the first one. Same with booze, knock it on the head for a while and having one after a few months tastes awful and makes you feel shit. I have cut back on eating out lunchtimes. For 3 of us it can often be £75-£80 even just at a chain pub these days for 3 mains and drinks and food is bang average at best, we only go places where there is an offer on now unless we’re going for a nice meal somewhere in the evening.

I never understand why bacon is seen as so bad though. Looks like come fresh from a pig and we always buy good quality stuff but meant to be one of worst ways to consume meat

It’s easy in the spring and summer, maybe it’s age but when it’s dark by 4.30 and weather is shit I don’t really want to do it anymore so seems like a good idea.
