Barsiem Posted Wednesday at 13:45 Posted Wednesday at 13:45 Thanks for the summary Gloucester Saint Vince has been nominated for new T20 HoF. He's good a good shout of getting in I'd say https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25987683.hampshire-legend-vince-shortlisted-t20-hall-fame-induction/ 2

Is Vince supposed to be playing in the PSL this year? I haven't seen him in any of the teams so far. 1
Weston Saint Posted Thursday at 12:21 Posted Thursday at 12:21 (edited) I think this might be another year of transition in the Championship but confident we will end up in the top 5. Adi Birell will be a big miss for his man management skills, but in Domingo I think we have a skilled coach, and I am backing him to be a big success. Batting wise, we need to have a good opening pair who can stick around. Then we have excellent players to follow that through. Middleton Orr or Albert Gubbins Lehmann Prest or Mayes or Weatherley Brown Dawson Yusuf Abbott Wheal or Currie or Turner Baker or Lumsden or Jack That leaves Organ and Kelly on the sides for now Edit, and Fuller who I assume is injured Expecting us to be there or there abouts for white ball. Weston Saint Posted Thursday at 13:21 Posted Thursday at 13:21 Since my review above Hampshire have named 13 for Essex Game Kyle Abbott (87) Eddie Jack (91) Toby Albert (15) Jake Lehmann (33) Sonny Baker (95) Ben Mayes (21) Ben Brown Captain † (10) Tom Prest (24) Scott Currie (44) Joe Weatherley (5) Liam Dawson (8) Codi Yusuf (39) Nick Gubbins (31) So no Orr or Middleton so it will be interesting to see who opens. My take Weatherly Albert Gubbins Lemann Prest Brown Dawson Mayes Yusuf Abbott Baker
Lighthouse Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I'll go with something similar except Jack in for Mayes. Unfortunately it looks like the weather is going to delay play today.
Gloucester Saint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Baker got rid of Paul Walter - Essex 27-2. Abbott got his former colleague Elgar early, which will have been music to his ears, but he kept composed.
Hodgey Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Interesting line up - are Orr, Albert and Middleton injured or dropped ? assume Weatherly will move back up to open with Lehman ? Surprised Prest is in after his awful season Need the batting to fire this year, poor batting should have seen us relegated last year were it not for Durham’s total collapse.

Didn't catch what he said about Orr, but KJ says Albert and Middleton didn't make the team although fit. Albert was fielding a couple of minutes ago. Not a bad start but the bowlers now look to be labouring, decent wicket perhaps. KJ has also just said "Staying up will be seen as job done". Nothing like a bit of ambition then !!

Jack and the new chap don't look like world beaters. Whatever happened to Turner ? Edited 12 hours ago by Window Cleaner
Hodgey Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago We’ve got a lot of seam bowlers - Wheal / Turner / Currie / Baker / Jack new guy yet they all seem to be way off Abbot standard. Similar with the young batters I guess giving them another year makes sense - or maybe the club/players will go white ball only route.

Weatherley’s drop of Tom Westley might hurt us if he hasn’t broken a finger and returns tomorrow. Key learning for our batters is to keep it tight first 20-30 overs when it’s doing plenty and then the conditions get better and you can cash in like the Essex middle order has. New rule this season that injured players can be replaced with a substitute that takes a full part in the game. Wesley has been replaced by Thain. As you say great care will be needed as Porter and Cook open the Essex bowling.
